Question Key West Races

I know this has been beaten into the ground. I THINK there will still be a non-APBA race the w/e of 11/21. Does anyone know this for a fact? Are any of you guys planning to race? Any idea how many boats will be there? I haven't canceled my airline reservations yet and would like to go if anyone will be racing. If not, I am just going to hang around South FL that w/e. Please help me out as I'm trying desperately to make some vacation plans...

Thanks in advance for your input.

Thumbs down

Dean:

There may be a few boats that show up in KW but I doubt it. They cannot use the Navy base as the pits and now the city may be backing out. Honestly if you want to see some great offshore racing go to Orange Beach. BH

BH,

I would love to go to OB but it won't work out with my schedule. My family is meeting me in Lauderdale...

I guess I will be hanging out in South FL with nothing to do other than drink heavily.

Thanks for the info.

I'll be there on vacation with several other OSO people But I was reading a newspaper site today from keysnews.com and it said

Quote from Mills"Until that litigation is settled, Mills said, no races are being sanctioned by the APBA, including the races that were moved to Alabama."

I'm going to be boatless But This guy claims he promised 100 boats to be there racing I don't see how he is going to get 100 let alone 50 racing.

CAP,
I agree with you on the number of boats since not 1 single person on OSO has said they are running...

Thanks Doug. I'll see you on the river Saturday.

I'm thinking seriously about taking the Hustler down to S. FL when I go. If I don't take it, my buddy is going to take his Scarab. We will do some fishing and diving instead of the races.

I spoke to someone closely involved with racing and the racers last night. He spoke with Gerry Gilbreadth, (SP?) and the word from him was that since the racers were going to be in the area anyway that most said they would continue on to the Key West World Offshores.

I was going to keep my plans and party in Key West anyway. This is just more icing on the party cake

I know of SEVERAL teams that are racing Orange Beach AND Key West. Plus all the poker run boats will be there. I'll be there with my boat, I dunno if were racing or not probably just spectating and working.
