Replacing teak trim and cabin door
What is the best way to replace teak trim in order to give an older boat a more up dated look? I am interested in replacing the teak cabin door and cabin trim with something more modern looking (white) on an '85 Cigarette Mistress.
I was considering "laminating" the wood with a couple layers of fiberglass and then either gelcoating or painting it. Any other/better ideas?

How about constructing new doors from a composite material. Something like King Starboard. There is a distributor in Elk Grove village. I will see if I can find their number. I was going to use this product when redoing my engine hatch but opted to go with marine plywood instead. I stopped by to look at the product. Not cheap stuff. But what is when is comes to boats.

If you can remember the name, phone number, etc of the place in Elk Grove, I'd appreciate it. Is it basically the same as the Star Board you can get through West Marine?
Where do you get marine grade plywood in Chicago?

I pulled mine off sanded them, then painted them with Easy Poxy. This stuff works great, leaves a nice shine without having to mess with it. This is from an 81 Formula.

The plywood was given to me. Nice and cheap! At least they said it was marine grade. They said the plys are tighter than standard plywood. I still resined the wood prior to recovering.
I would try a large lumber yard to see if they could order it.
