Stop Alcohol Commercials?

Whats with the new hippie trend of petitioning to stop alcohol commercials on TV? I think that the tampon and douche (Not you Allan4) commercials that are on twice as often are more anoying than the Bacardi O3 crap (Sprite has more alcohol in it).

It's not that they're annoying

Danny Usnik 10-07-2003 07:10 PM

They always need something to b*tch about. Personally I think the beer commercials are more entertaining then the event they are on.

I don't think they can advertise alcohol though, just beer.

" AHH The good ol'e days "

I hear that. Sin sells.

I don't ever remember any of the oven cleaner or shower cleaner commercials.

I do remember, " I love you man " and " This Buds for you" and " I'll have a Light, .............................Bud Light".

I love the new Heineken Keg Can commercials. I love the Bud Bowl. I love the " Bud..............Weies.........ER" ones too.

On second thought, I like the " Don't Squeeze The Charman" ones too.

Does anyone remember Spuds?

Superbowl XXII (I think) after a Spuds MacKenzie Budweiser commercial, Stroh's came back on the next commercial break with a dog that did impersonations and the 2 guys on the couch were guessing who he was..... Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Old Yeller, then when the dog looked like Spuds....The 2 guys were like, "Who the hell is that"....."Beats me":D

well if ciggaette makers can't advertise on TV i see no rason why booze maker shodul be abel to either. I do think they present the wrong image and are MOST definatly aimed at getting younger poeple to drionk. They show 10 "beautiful people" hanging aroudn a hot club havign agrand old time and presentign how that greta time is hinged aroudn thier booze. then at th end they but in a a "drink resposbonsibley, and not underage" thing. Like that test is really going to over shadow teh messge they are sending with the ad

beercommercial arent; near as bad as the various other booze drink like eth bacradi mtl liquor crap and so forth

People today are just plain stupid! If they have to bitsh about some friggin' alcohol commercials on tv, then they should get busy doing something else productive.

If they can't advertise, they will lose sales and then I'm going to have to pay more for my booze and that's pretty much Bull$hit!

Once again, like so many other things, if these dumb-azz punk azz kids had halfway decent parents who instill real morality, values and ethics into their kids there would be no problems.

What a joke. Next thing you know, you won't be aloud to advertise McD's anymore because some dumb fukk ate himself to death.

Dont worry, I have about 5 or 6 friends my age, the rest are older. (Wait, do I even have 5 friends total?)

Gary Anderson 10-08-2003 03:37 PM

I dont think alcohol (distilled) companies are prohibited from advertising, there waas just sort of a "gentlemens agreement" to that effect. A few years ago, Phillips got their foot in the door, subtly, by doing safe driving type of ads "brought to you by Phillips". Couldn't it have been good booze at least. Now the rest are following. Capt Morgan, Southern Comfort, Bailey, etc all have regular ads now. Ever notice noone is ever shown actually drinking in the ads?

BTW, puder.
Those "Beautiful people" booze ads are true. The girls all get beautiful when I'm drinking a lot.

Speaking of annoying.
What's with the back to back ad's
the pro choicers are running now ?

Isn't one per commercial period enough:confused:
