Default Could a blind man throttle in a race?

This past week I attended a meeting at the Mohegan Sun and one of the speakers was Tom Sullivan. Tom has been blind since birth but is an accomplished musician, composer, actor, motivational speaker, wrestler, golfer, snow skier and bungi jumper. My question is whether or not a blind person such as Tom could throttle a boat during a race as long as he has good communication with the driver?

Sure thing, not sure if they would pass the FAA Physical though. I rarely look up at the water anyway. LOL - and Peconic proved he did not even need one.

Why not?? Most T-Man feel the ride by the seat and feel of the water.

Just like a DOT Pys. the want to make sure they won't have a heart attack or a sugar related problem, and wig out......

I do not see why not after a LOT of practice that that could happen.

Throttling is seat of the pants (gravity), hearing (RPMs) and sight ,were you anticipate the wave. 2 out of three will work but if you stuff a wave you would be in trouble. It could work and would work but it may be a little unsafe if racing. If I was blind I would try.
