which one do you like
which boat do you like the best
|
I love the Pantera, I just wish it had more freeboard.
|
How about a 30' Eliminator
|
After reviewing all the photos...I sorta like the one with the four ladies sitting n provocative positions on the sundeck..:D :D :D
|
Is Fountain spelled wrong for a reason?
Something from the subconscious? |
Indy, I am getting ready to order a new 28 Pantera with a single 525 EFI and I know jo lowered the cockpit floor recentley adding a deeper cockpit and it also comes standard with padding under your feet which is great while running in rough water.
hugetime1, The attention to detail that goes into a Pantera boat is something that i have not found with anyother boat i have tried to compare it to.Also the boat already comes delivered by jo with parts that other manufactures offer only as optional equipment.I had a chance to go out for a ride with jo in real 4-5 footers and i was sold.Jo took his hands off the wheel and let the boat run on its own for a few minutes heading into what i felt like big water.I did not even get a drop of water on me.I was sold!Good luck in your new boat buying decision. Seahorse |
yes envision because i didn't know how to spell it, lol
|
Seahorse...Did Jo intall the lowered footwells or the entire cockpit floor? Do you know how much he lowered it?
|
28 Pantera.
I have a 28 without the lowered floor and love it. I would probably order it on a new one though. It is not a low profile type hull and offers a very safe secure ride. Quality of boat and rigging is outstanding. Factory support is as good as it gets. Greg |
I guess I'd have to go with the Pantera or the Phantom, just cause I wouldn't own a fountain, baja or a warlock if you gave them to me.
|
YOU left out the SUNSATION put a 525 in that baby and you will fall in love!
I don't know anyone who didn't love the 28 over a Baja LOL |
As a new Pantera owner I'm biased, I've got the lowered footwell and like it, though I'll probably sit more in my smooth water.
The Baja's are not in the same league though they are a lot of boat for the money- especially 5 yr old's which already depreciated a bunch. The fountains's are nice, I just wish Reggie would call a spade a spade- Then again, that's what lets him be near the top of "speed per foot of boat with stock power charts". My 28 is closer to my buddies 32 fever in size- except his ass droops more (way to much) with twins:p Do the Phantom's come in a pleasure version? Every boat I've seen had "goofy" bolsters for pleasure use. I've got a real fast fiberglass pontoon type boat for sale if you decide to go that way;) |

It depend onwhat you want to use it for?

If I were choosing for myself then it would be the 29, for the size of the boat and the cabin
|
Fountain and Pantera.
Fountain because I had one and it was tough as nails (it was called a 27 back then it did have the swim platform so I can say it was a 29!) Pantera from the raves i have heard around here from people I value opinions from. |

You guy's left out the new 29' Extreme !!!!
(This is a tooling photo) |
I've never been on a Pantera - but I'd have to vote for them from everything I've seen and read. Their construction is impressive. My 259 Checkmate with a 500 HP was one of the fastest single engine v-hulls around upstate NY lakes, but man what a difference when I put it in real water (Long Island Sound). I will not run it out there for another season because I'm afraid there will be nothing left of it. The Pantera/Cigarette/Powerplay/Sonic and a few others are absolute wave crushers that my Checkmate would have easily smoked on my 15 mile lake (no waves) back home - but no way out here. They pass me drinking cocktails while everyone on my boat is holding on for dear life as we bounce around.
|
I voted a couple of days ago. Picked the obvious choice in my opinion. Yes I realize it's nothing more than just an opinion. :)
I do know that the Sunsation would be VERY close second. I just feel like they're A LOT of boat for the $$$. Not to mention the fact that I think the owner's seem like great people. Had to mention that since it wasn't an option. Buck |
What kind of water will you be running in? That makes a big difference?
|
Go Look at a Sunsation. Then take one for a test drive. Compare the 28.8 single to the other guys twin 29 and see the difference. I bet you walk away suprised.
|
Just remember the question here was what do (YOU) like the answer should be what do you Hugetime like?
Formula Outlaw is right where will you be running it ? and what can you afford they are the 2 biggest questions when buying a boat I would have to say mine would also include what is the insurance going to be? |

Phantom builds a race tough boat. If you like sitting rather than standing, there is no other choice.

I currently own a phantom and a fountain. The phantom is a much faster, agile, better handling hull than the fountain. We built a 30 that ran over 110, and drove itself. Phantom is great in the rough too. I've got a 29' Baja, a 32' Baja, a 30' Phantom, and a 31' Cig. Pick one.
|
I voted for Pantera...because there isn't my #1 favorite .......Active Thunder!!!
|
I cant vote but I would go for the fountain
|
I like the Fountain. :D
|
I strongly urge you to consider a 29' Sunseeker. The fit and finish are excellent and the choice of fine wood and varnish is fantastic, not to mention thick lamb wool carpets and granite countertops...
|
relax guys, just kidding...
|
I could relax on that!!!;)

I'm assuming the choices are based on the affordability factor vice the dream factor. I have a friend with a 1999 29 Baja with T-454mags and as was mentioned above it's a lot of boat for the sub-30' range. I don't what it's ride is like nor I don't know it's structural nuances, but crawling around on it I find it an impressive boat for the money he paid.
1) Fountains are too small. You want a 29, buy a 32. 2) Warlocks just don't do a thing for me. Plus aren't they a west coast lake boat? I don't know. 3) Phantoms I know nothing about. 4) Pontoons. Love'em. I'd love to have one on the side. 5) So I guess I'd have to pick Pantera because I've heard nothing but good things WRT it's build quality and I like it's rough good looks. |
Check out the Convincor 300 single from Checkmate..........fit's in that size range.
