Has Anyone Ever Seen Jetsprinting...

I tuned in to Speed Channel on Sunday a little while before the Sarasota Offshore race came on and I caught the last half of the World Jetsprinting championships.

All I can say is those guys are crazy. They're nuts. I've never seen this before and I was amazed at the speed and turning capability of those little boats! Totally awesome. Check it out next time it's on!

Here are some pics from http://www.worldseriesjetsprinting.com/

They run on these small, manmade "trench" courses with lots of hairpin turns.

They turn like this doing close to 100mph.

I havn't seen it on tv, but I used to have some really cool vids of them. Pretty wild stuff!

I've caught it on TV a couple times in the last few years. Every time I do, I can't turn it off. These guys really are nuts.

I have caught it a few times on the dish. That is some real crazy ****!

I don't think my mind works that fast to follow those hand signals and go the right direction.

So one make a wrong turn and end up in the stands one day.

It is wild!

Jet Sprint boat racing is very popular in Australia & New Zealand.
The boats are a blast to drive. So much so I bought an old race boat for kicks. I put a new 500hp donk in it.
This hull design is too old to race competitively , so we play around & pull ski biscuits behind it.
It's a blast! Yea they turn on a dime, and guess what happens to your ski biscuit friends!
I highly recommend them - 100% fun factor, but for relatively flat water only.
If you ever get a chance to go for a ride - take it !
Here's some pictures before my rebuild and after...
Ford sticker now gone - boat used to have 351 cleveland now it has modified GM Gen III.

The drivers / navigators are only given the new course before each race. Helps to have a good memory. That rules me out.

I remember looking at an article in H20 Full Throttle (another former magazine) a couple years ago about this - and yes, it does seem pretty nuts. But then again, those Aussies and Kiwis are a nuts anyway...in a good way, of course! :drink:
