Great Boat and Nice lines !

rainmn 10-17-2003 09:03 AM

I love them, especially the outboard models. Ever see the size of the cockpit on an outboard 33'?

Allan4 10-17-2003 09:12 AM

If I were boat shopping right now this is the boat I would be looking for. I have talked around a bit to people I trust and I have heard nothing but fantastic things about the 33 Powerplay.

From my understanding, you are best off having the latest generation...I am not sure which year that is though. Too Old would probably know.

Good luck, sweet boats..I hope to be in one sometime as well.

If you want some good info, pm defyn gravity. He has had 33's and now has a 38 and he loves them and knows lots about them. Nice guy also.

if you're boat shopping and looking for the best deal onthe cleanest 33 Powerplay around...look no further than Wes Smith's 33. It is absolutely perfect...see the classifieds

birdog 10-17-2003 10:10 AM

I can tell you this.....Defyn 's 38 has the slickest rigging I have EVER seen !!!! I was blown away by that boat !!

And this is from a guy that LIVES Cigarette !!!!:D

If I were to convert back to a V from my cat I would give a powerplay some serious thought. Awesome Boat

What is Wes getting now? He just bought that 33! :p

Powerplay makes a great boat. I think they changed the deck line at some point to give more depth at the helm, though I could be wrong about that. So, I'd look for a late model boat.

WesSmith 10-17-2003 12:05 PM

Well.....ya never know ! :D

Miller - you're right about the freeboard...it is slightly higher on the newer models although I don't believe its all that noticeable.

These boats are rock solid and handle incredibly well.
The rigging is first rate and the lines are just classic.

If I could swing a 38, I'd be in one already !!!

In 1996 the hull was changed and made 6" deeper.

The Powerplays are rock solid and 1st class.
I have a 98 that runs 94 mph for sale.
My 38 should be here next week.

I have a 33' with triple outboards. Rainmn is right the cockpit is simply huge. I run it in Lake Michigan and it handles rough water better than I thought a 33 footer would be able to. Sad part is I just started cleaning it out for the winter last night.

Miller 10-17-2003 12:47 PM

Did Ozzie sell his 33? If not, look closely at both Wes' and Ozzie's boats. You can't go wrong with either of them. Ozzie has 3 standup-sitdown bolsters across the rear instead of a bench and Wes, I believe, has a bench seat. So, different setups depending on your preference but both would be AWESOME!

I have an older 33' with twin outboards for sale. It is very clean but is a 1988. I would need to get around $45k for it. I assure you it is VERY clean. Here is a pic.

jody 165, good luck on the sale, I will mention it to my brother who is looking for 33' outboard powerplays after seeing mine. I wish Al Stoker could work on my engines but I live to far away. I met him while he was racing tunnel boats with my uncle when I was like 9 years old. Really knows his stuff; even though he's a johnrude guy. just kidding.

dkwestern 10-17-2003 01:56 PM

jody165, could you email the pics, I don't have a membership yet. [email protected]

PowerPlay is a outstanding Builder,And nothing goes out the door that Danny would not personally own..

and he is the pickiest guy on the planet.

32storm 10-18-2003 07:59 AM

The 33 Powerplay would be on my short list of boats to buy. I love the classic lines. All the factory rigging jobs I have seen on their boats appear to be first class.

baja27 10-20-2003 07:49 AM

Thanks Too Old, I let you guys know how she performs latter this week. I'm very excited , but I won't get my hopes up to high. According to Randy she is a runner. I guess we will see.

CustomRigger101 10-20-2003 08:48 AM

dan's boat are one of the best on the water IMHO

Powerplay25 02-09-2012 04:44 PM

Just found this thread. Ahhh the good old days.

Steve 1 02-09-2012 05:01 PM

Oh yeah ,the 33 Danny was going to keep as a straight bottom or Classic ,We were talking about a 35' stepped hull ,to fill the line between 33 and 38. The last 33 built was a Cool boat.
