cruisers?
Hi again,
I can't seen to get my mind off a cruiser. But reading on it. Its like reading a differant language. But the style of one is what I am looking for. As far as entertaining and my daughter and I to spend time on. I've seen lots of boats being pulled. But never a cruiser. HELP |

I dont think you could go wrong with a Sea Ray. That would be my choice if I got a cruiser.

Knowing your budget would help.
|
I have some info coming to me on that .. thanks. Like I had mention when I first joined OSO. I am a bit impulsive... so everything I see I want.
|
I want to stay between 70 and 100 K
|
If it were me Id go for a Formula cruiser or a Formula Super sport ( more cockpit space less cabin room than the cruiser models)

Man those new Sundancers are ugly:o
|
There is some very good info over at www.boatered.com
There are a lot of Cruiser guys over there and thay can help you with a lot fo questions you might have. But we have more fun here :D |
I'd look at the Mustang line of cruisers if you want that traditional "cruiser look". What I like is that: 1. The hull to deck joint is bonded with fiberglass on the inside, similar to an offshore boat. 2. The beam is slightly narrower for a better rough water ride.
I'd also look at the Formula and Fountain sport cruisers if you want something sportier. |
Sea Ray cruisers hold their value well. Formula costs more initially, and typically falls in value quicker (in the cruiser market). For this reason, I would rather buy a used Formula cruiser.
Now, for BANG for the BUCK, it is hard to beat a Rinker. You can get a NICE 30' twin V6 (more room in the engine compartment than the V8) with Generator and Air a few years old for around $45k. Good boat to see if you like cruisers with. If you keep it a year and want more, then go for a "premium" brand. |

Dont forget about Regals. They are a well built boat that produces a good sport crusier. Specially the 2850 LSC almost got one my self it will run hight 50's with a single BBC in it. and it will fit the price range and you kid will love it. Rag's

I have a 96 Regal 32 foot cruiser and love it. the lay out is excellent, much better than a sea ray in my opinion. It goes real well with twin 454 Bravo 3's (49 on a GPS so far). The purchase price is very competative and the build quality is excellent. Give them a good look, I think they are a very good deal.
|
I third the Regals , I been on a few very good fit and finish, make sure ya get twins at least a set of
V6 4.3's on 26-28 ft after that pair of 300hp small-blocks 28-32ft, 6.2 horizons motors are nice too very low maintenace and 320hp much easier to dock with twins, especially with windy conditions |

teh enw 35 portofino is VEY ncie i was on one a fewmonths ago and was impressed. nci ride pretty quick and well apointed.
|
LovlyLady426, if you can wait a few months i think the Detroit boat show is usually in February or march. They have mostly cruisers there so you can look at a lot of them at once and you'll probably get a better deal from the show.
|
MY vote goes for the Regal too, I used to have one and loved it. I now have a Cruisers but one like mine cant be had anymore.
|
I second the Rinker.
The 34 overalls at 37 and has an awsome layout. Has a sink and fridge in the cockpit, and also a pop-up blender. The cabin is huge and has a separate shower next to the head. You can find one a couple years old in your price range. Here is a link which compares it's features to other boats in its class. http://www.rinkerboats.com/prodcomp-342.shtml |
I agree with the Rinker, cant beat it for the money.
I had an older one(1988)250 Fiesta Vee, 28' OAL, no problems with boat(mine had an OMC, so we wont talk about the drivetrain). Price was right, and served my purpose for the time being. Another very good priced cruiser is the Glastron GS249, My mother in-law has one, and loves it9except for the Volvo Drive train) try for something with a Merc at least, and I agree with twins, mine was a ***** to dock with any kind of current.. |
Twins it is!! I think I will be going to any boat shows that I can find out of. If anyone knows of any in MI let me know.
Thanks everyone for being so helpful. Much appreciated. |
