New Orleans Bound
I'm flying down to New Orleans tomorrow morning for a little R&R with my fiance returning Sunday morning.
Are there any boating functions happening (shows, poker runs, parties, etc....)? Would love to hook up with fellow OSOers. We will be staying at "The Columns" up near Tulane and I plan on eating plenty of Etoufee!!! Bill |

The Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival is this weekend. It is a great time with lots of great food, music, and talaent walking around!;) It is a great time and brings out hundreds of boats. We will be there Saturday on the boat and Sunday on land. It is about a 40 minute drive from New Orleans across Lake Pontchatrain. If you want to hook up, give me a call or PM me.

phastang, looks like a lot of fun. I won't have a rental car, so not sure i'll be able to make it out there. If we do will definitely give ya a shout.

Bill-It's a great time, we look forward to it every year. Last year they had almost 60000 in attendance. There will be several OSO members there. Might contact the locall airport Limo-They will run across the lake for like $60.00 round-trip. If we miss ya, have a great trip. You can't have a bad time in New Orleans unless you walk around with your head up your azz!:D

Not yet. You have a list?
|
Yeah I'm going to the Steel Pony Express Show also. It's only a 3hr drive from where I am. We're heading down for Saturday only....it looks like a really big show. Mainly I'm going to check out West Coast Choppers, Choppers Inc, Indian Larry and Orange County Choppers. These guys build some really awesome stuff and to see them all in person just adds to the fun.

The new restaurant by St. Louis cathedral is Muriel's. We ate there when they first opened and it was AWESOME!!
There's a ton of good places to eat, you really can't go wrong in New Orleans, but don't forget Copeland's newest venture, the Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro. Great food, atmosphere and spirits! Have fun! |
good food- bucktown seafood fest is this weekend which is right around the corner from THE DOCK which is going to be the party headquarters this weekend with the bike fest. enjoy.........

Originally posted by cashbrain Anybody recommend restaurants to you?? Originally posted by Love Machine Not yet. You have a list? I REALLY like the athmosphere of Muriel's, but the food is only an 8 or 8.5 out of 10. (Of course that is still much better than anything in Virginia.:D ) Muriel's is around two blocks from my apartment and NOLA is 1 1/2. I would munch and drink at Muriel's, but dine at NOLA (10), Bacco (10), or Mr.B's(10). I have heard the new Brennan's restaurant on Bourbon a block off of Canal is good, too. (Don't bother with Commander's -- You are from VA and couldn't POSSIBLY appreciate it! ;) ) Nevertheless, the Seance Room at Muriel's is a MUST if it isn't reserved. Have a Carribean Martini at the bar and check out the story about the ghost. (BTW -- It isn't too much $$$ to reserve, and it is terribly romantic if ya need to get laid.) :D Pic w/ my Sis in Seance Bar: |
not trying to disrupt the trip but i just read a commercial with that post ,ugggghhhh:crazy: new orleans has some of the best places to eat, wolfs in lakeview, emerils in the wharehouse district , del'monicos on st. charles ave ,redfish grill ,commanders palace, GW FINS kicks ass!!!!!:D :D :D

Thanks for all the tips. I'll let you know how I like them upon returning. I'm signing off till Sunday night!
Have a great boating weekend. Kinda wish I was takin out the Sonic. |
