Mercury to Lose Lake X
I recently heard (fromt an excellent source) that Mercury will be losing its lease at Lake X next year. I'm sure they will find a perfectly good replacement test site, but it was always kind of cool to read about the mysterious site.
|
thought mercury owned lake x and the property around it:confused:
|
No they dont own it. The sold it about 20yrs ago and have been leasing it.
I heard they have a new Lake X around panama city. |
I read the same thing. I wonder if the new place will be a secret stomping ground also.
|
|
the kirchman corp owns the property. They are here in Orlando, it is a banking software company.
|
I heard that the new Lake X will be in Fountainville NC, Also heard that merc has a piece of Fountains Business.
|
I'll bet the deal was Carl owned the lake and leased it to Merc. When he died estate sold the property.

Mercury's new test facility will be near Panama City Beach , FL . I wonder if they will try and take ELVIS with them? BH
|
Elvis....you mean Evil Kinevil:D
|
I heard from a very reliable source it's going to be on a lake in Oklahoma. They are moving in March. Lake x is a very cool place. It's too bad. NK

Maybe they are going to have a lot of facilities :D:D Very sad to see the original go. We have lost a lot of historical to our sport places in the last few years. Very sad.

Regardless of where the "NEW" Lake X is I don't think it will have half the appeal from a nostalgic standpoint. Lake X has had the "cool factor" it does for so many years because of the secret testing and limited access that it had for so many years. Either way, I hope they name the new location something different. I think Lake X needs to stay at the Saint Cloud location. I hope the new location is kick arse!:D

took a 73mph F1 boat up to a 81.6 mph rocket there
In the spring of 1999 we literally lived at The Lake . One of my buddies would cook in the motorcoach and we'd feed the staff. I'll never forget walking around @ 8:00 am in the shop with pajamas on. Brad and Craig were eating our grub off china plates and real silverwear when Robert Moore walked up and just shook his head. At night we'd take the motorhome to Hooters in St Cloud , have beers and sleep in the parking lot - ahhhhhhhhhhh the memories. BH

I heard it might be moved to Reggie land.

So I think we clearly have the exit strategy that we need. We’ve done it with the largest marine company in the world, the Brunswick Corporation, which owns Bayliner, Sea Ray, Hatteras, Boston Whaler, Bajas and has a call on my company approximately four years from now." http://www.twst.com/notes/articles/tak619.html So my vote is for around the Fountain factory! |
His statement of "my Company" is close to accurate he owns 2.25 Mil of 4.74 Mil shares.
