Cool r/c boat vid
This is supposed to be the world's fastest r/c boat...and it's electric. Who knows if it's a record, but 120 mph is pretty damn impressive, regardless.

Cool! That little engine just sounds like it's screaming! |
I think electrics are running in the 100-102mph range (some very race built)

Talk about acceleration!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
I wanna know what props he has on that thing? hehe
|
I got this from one of the r/c sites wild stuff
( Just to clarify a couple points about Joergs boat and FE. The motor is less than 2 inches in dia. and about 4 inches long. It puts out about 3000 watts which is about 4 hp. He used the "slowest" motor he had with only 1800kv. The other motors in his arsenal range up to 2400kv (rpm per volt). With a spectral analysis it was determined that the 1950 prop was turning about 48,000 - 50,000 rpms at full speed. The speed controller for the motor was on timing mode 1 of 3 - very conservative. After the run the motor, batts, and esc were only warm. Basically, he made the run in nitro terms on 20% nitro with an avg. pipe. That boat with only a minor tune-up will be good for over 130 easy.) |
The motor and drivetrain. I could never get an ESC to handle any real power.... Fine on stock 6cell and 550 motors, but when I upgraded to 14 turn quad wind and two 8 cell batts, I kept frying wiring harnesses and ESC. Gets expensive quick. Weed wacker motors are so reliable. WOT every time out and she starts first pull.
I doubt the hull could take 130. |
WOW.........that is an awesome video. That thing accelerates like a rocket!!!!!!!!!!!!
