Best deals on Garmin 182

anyone know of any deals on Garmin Gps???the 182 goes for like $700

Madcow 11-18-2003 07:19 AM

That is an item you NEVER find discounted. When I bought my Garmin a few years ago the best I could do was sign up for a West marine card and get 10% off.

Try this, they have good deals on electronics.

GARMIN MAP182I B/W LCD PLOTTER- W/INTERNAL ANTENNA......(click on the red "instant quote" button)

better yet!!

Padraig 11-18-2003 10:32 AM

I would go with the internal antenna. No seperate antenna and wire to mount and screw with. I have my 182 mounted to the left of the dash and accuracy is fine.

dyno 11-18-2003 11:01 AM

you must have been reading my mind..... I was wondering abou the antenna

CigDaze 11-18-2003 11:42 AM

The internal antenna is fine in most conditions. It's only in severe weather that you will start noticing a difference...(but then again, that may be when you need it most).

Boatfix and Brokenlegdave are highly recommended. I have done business with both many times, very reliable.

Re Garmin: I would tend towards Standard Horizon. Better value, better service, standard Cmap NT charts.

If you ever have a problem, they usually send you a new one.

dyno 11-18-2003 11:59 AM

I've always had Garmin stuff so I wouldnt know about the standard....enlighten me

Peconic 11-18-2003 12:30 PM

If you always had Garmin, then you probably have a sizeable investment in their charts: Stay with Garmin.

I've also ordered stuff from Boatfix several times before with great results. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

What about the Garmin 176C??? It looks like it does everything the 182 does, the reason I ask is that it would fit better in the dash of my boat!! I would rather have it mounted in the dash than on top of the dash.

What's the difference in the two??

Anyone have a 176C??

Much smaller screen, I have used both and believe me, the 182 is much easier to read at high speed. The color 176 is very hard to see in the sunlight. The monochrome is ok in the sunlight but small.
