OT Computer help
Hey Guys,
My daughters computer is on the blink. It says it has an error reading drive "C" About 4 months ago I had the old 4 gig drive replaced with a 20 gig drive. It also says that it has an "internal stack overflow". It is telling me that I have to change the stacks setting in CONFIG.SYS file.
What does all this mean and should I be scared !!!
Thanks,
Dave
P.S. I don't know much about these things so just tell me straight if I need to take it in for a tuneup or do I just buy a new one. It is six years old but has worked flawlessly up until now.

What operating system ?
When does this happen? (at boot OR when attempting to run something)
Did you add anything before this happened (software OR hardware)
Try to boot the machine in safe mode and run a virus scan using updated virus definitions. You can also edit the config.sys file and add a stack command by:
Goto Start > Run
type SYSEDIT (4 or 5 windows will come up)
Click on the config.sys window (file)
enter:
STACKS=64,512
FILES=60
BUFFERS=40

Hi-perf 2000
It's windows 98
It will not start up at all.
I'm sure she added some programs, but nothing in the last weeks or so.
It will not boot even in safe mode.
