Sorry guys, but I think this is/was a case of buyer beware. It's your job to do the homework when buying from a private party. You bought used parts hoping they would work. They didn't, now you have to sell them.

I did the same thing during the first version of OSO. I bought a set of Mayfair steering rams, brackets and tiebar. The setup was not even close to fitting. My bad ... took me several months to sell the parts at a loss.

$.02

g...stop tryin to stick for them left coasters....will ya???  :D :D

you may be right, but we don't know what converstions may have gone on outside of OSO...

how's the boat?---got my 540's done---still doing 70 something mph with those big ole TRS on the back...

Sean ... my boat is GONE. I've been boatless for almost 2 months. I got something in the works now ... don't want to jinx myself and announce anything until the papers are signed.

You are right about us NOT knowing what went on outside of OSO, but yet there are a lot of people ready to lynch the seller based on ... What? ... the seller doesn't want to discuss a used parts sale ??

I don't know, but it seems like a lot of stink from a small dump

congrats on the sale...where did it go?

how fast was it again?

cigarette1 11-21-2003 03:06 PM

Sean ... One of my buddies picked it up. He's already redone the dash, added the new billet Gaffrig controls, changed the colors .......

When I had the 509's running close to 540hp, I hit 74.5 once on the GPS. As you know, I had since replaced the power with 496HO's. I never really got a chance to dial it in, however, I ran it with the same props (22 Bravo w/ 1.36) as before and got up to 4800 rpm on the new motors. I THINK after a lab job on the props, I should have been able to run it up to 5000+ rpm which should have produced an honest 70 mph.

We'll see for sure after my buddy gets a chance to dial it in.

I think they only make 1 oil pump shaft for the big block Chevy's and what do you do if the deck of the block and the heads and intake are milled that changes all the heights so you should probably check every engine for the correct depth or take it to a shop that is experienced in doing it all the time to avoid mistakes that could cost a engine.
