I believe the 30 is faster also. The dealer who does all the work on my boaat is an Eliminator dealer. He had a 30 with 500's, boxes, and labbed props that he recently sold. It was his toy and demo boat for the year and ran 106-107. Another local guy has a 28 with Whippled 500's and it runs 118-121.

I was told the 28 has more height up front due to the 30 having canopies. I have never been in the front of a 30 myself.

I thought that the 30 would be a bigger boat in the cabin but I feel like the 28 is larger. It may just be me, but it sure feels like the 28 is taller in the cabin. Both are nice cabins for a cat. I have kids and a cabin was inportant to me.

any new data to support any of the theory's here?
Ive heard both ways some say the 28 is a better setup others say the 30 is the better setup. |
It depends on the version of the 28 you get, they come in tall deck version and canopy versions. The tall deck does have nice room for a 28' cat. It is about the same as my buddies velocity 28...Though if you are over 6' you can only sit in the first seat in the cabin. Mine has about a queen sized bed in the very front, that you could sleep in just don't sit up fast. Mine is actually for sale though it is a 2001. It has 496 mag ho and with the windsheild it will run 90 all day long. though with different props could see more.

care to share your vision on setup?
I've been in canopied 28's and canopied 30's- the way the glass work is on the 28 give maybe an inch more headroom so that was not a deciding factor. Between the two, the canopied 28 should be faster, same power, both having decent setups. most of the canopied 28's are open to the cabin vs having a door area. The Tall deck and LP 28's were supposed to be a bit slower hull. I'd love to eith let Raylar at my 496's or swap in some 500/525's. |
