warning to fellow members

Public sevice mesage from PACKINAIR... After drinking ALOT do NOT attenpt to finish replacing all the plugs/switches in your kitchen from 2:45-4:00AM with out turning off the breakers.. If for some reason you deem it must be done atleast hold off on that big shore power looking thing on the back of the stove.. And now you know and knowing is 1/2 the battle:rolleyes:

Why replace them? Did you go to rockers? Upgrade to 30 amp from a generator. You should have at least 100amp you know. I did it to 10 switches in another house and did not turn off the power. The small jolt is designed to keep you awake and going.:D

"...and knowing is 1/2 the battle "

or is that 1/2 the bottle ?

If he does not turn off the power we would be reading about him in the news if he had gas :D:D

Packin 110 is no problem to leave on but 220 can get ya in trouble. We had to do 470 (european Voltage) the other day on one of the flow form machines at a machine shop and I was very nervous for a few hours as we did it even with the gloves on.

120 Volts AC CAN, AND HAS, killed many people. It only takes about 250 milliamps (1/4 amp) to stop your heart. It is really a matter of luck. I don't work anything hot anymore after finding this out. Be careful.

Work with one hand. should be easy enough witha bottle of captain in your other.

I was building a new office area in a warehouse for an Ace Hardware distribution center. Had to install four 2x2 flourescent drop in lights.
We were working at night (to stay out of the way of daily operations there).
Hooked the first one up to the existing wiring. Turned it on. "Damn, Thats awful bright!!!" - after 60 seconds " that looks like smoke under the lense" - 120 seconds "OH CHIT!!!".
turn it off, must be something wrong with the light.
Pull another one out of the box, wire it up.
Flip the switch.
Same thing happens.
OK.
Something must be wrong.
Chase the wiring back to the panel.
It's hooked up to some weird voltage - I think it was 273 or something odd like that. What an eye opener!

I can deal with 110 or 220, but getting into that odd stuff - in the future I'll leave it to someone else.
