OT - Rottweilers Part II

1 Attachment(s)
Thirteen weeks ago, I started the "I'm a daddy - Rottweilers" thread. Here's an update for anyone interested.
Unfortunately on Thanksgiving Day, the mother of these pups was killed. I'm thankful I still have the two 'pick' pups.
This is my male, Jango, at 13 weeks.

Look at those paws!!! How much did the sire weigh? I saw some Rott pups for sale today and almost bought one home...I had to put mine down in Feb after having him for almost 11 years:(

105 - the sire goes about 135. This pup's 13 weeks, and is currently right around 40 pounds. Sorry about your dog. Very few things in life are as painful as putting down a good dog.

Great looking pup. Sorry to hear about your dog as well. I know first hand how hard it is to lose one.

Sorry to hear about your recent loss. I also lost one of my beloved males a couple of weeks ago. He started having seizures and I rushed him to the hospital and they kept him on IV's for almost a day and found a very large tumor. He was 8.5 years old and one of the most beautiful rotties I have ever had. The last couple of weeks have been really hard . :( I have had many dogs and never had problems when they passed on but the rotties always hurt. I think I just get WAY too close to them. I have one male left now and not sure what I will do in the future. I love Rotties but the 3 I have had pass on were just too hard. :(

Your puppy looks like he is going to be a beautiful dog. Good luck with him they are always sooooo much fun to raise!! :)

Clearcut - a tumor killed my previous female. There was no sign until it was too late. On the positive side, she was 13 years old. That's about it for Rotts. I will have mine checked for tumors at least once a year from now on. Very sorry for your loss.

CAP071 11-28-2003 08:31 PM

Are you gonna get them clipped off? Their Nards:D

rouxsterre 11-28-2003 09:40 PM

Capo -
I will cut no 'nads before their time - after he's bred. Watch for him. He will have nice offspring. Non-germans need not apply. . . .

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I like dogs better than most people. Their more honest. I'm personally into the "German" Dobermans, but the Rotts are my next choice and that pup is one hell of a dog. My big German male, Jaus, passed back in 1983, he was nine and died in his sleep. Biggest Dobe I've ever seen. 155 lbs. of solid muscle, with a neck and chest like Dick Butkus, yet little girls could yank on his ears and he just loved it. Still miss him. I'm now on # 6. She just turned two and love to play hide and seek with the "remote".

Let's hope #6 lives a long and happy life. Dogs don't live anywhere near long enough for my liking.

AMEN,,, my boxer turned 7 this year, she is like my child, goes everywhere and does everything. With boxer's only living like 9-10 years, Was thinking of getting a puppy because she is so well behaved and want her to be a good roll model. Just couldn't stand the thought of loosing her.

rouxsterre 12-01-2003 12:08 PM

Anna - I mean Chris (love the avatar) - no time like the present. Like a year before the death of my previous Rott, I got a puppy (the female that just got killed), and she seemed to give the old girl some new life. If you get a pup now, you'll be glad you did. So will the older dog. Boxers are great dogs.

Thanks for the compassion, my OSO brethren.
I really have my hands full with these two fiends. When they are not fiending me, or my wife, or my outside furniture, they are perfectly content to fiend each other.

Life is good.

105mph_38_2003 12-20-2003 11:59 PM

I want another Rott!!! Who do I goto if I want to find the same bloodline? I emailed AKC and they told me that they can not recommend a breeder. WHere can I find me a big rott? All the ones i find look like crossbreeds or like they have trashy bloodline...I need one like you have rouxsterre:D
