Bazooka Tubes in Boats?

After reading that article in Powerboat, it sounds like a low Cost way to Improve my Stereo!!! Has anyone used them in their Boats?? Easy to install?? more important , DO THEY KICK A$$??

Thanks!!! Mitchell

Tricky919 11-30-2003 08:56 AM

I had one in a 28 pantera and it worked great !!!! Installation was easy and the sound was awesome......Oh, and no matter how bad the boat was beat it never came loose.........

check out page 44 in decembers powerboat mag. good article on bazooka products;) :D

mama tryed 11-30-2003 09:05 AM

Tricky,, Did you have yours in the Cockpit somewhere, or under a Seat? I removed my Fresh Water Tank from under the Back Seat, and was wanting to mount it there

open87 11-30-2003 09:11 AM

sorry , didn't read that you already saw the article. sometimes i am a dumbass:rolleyes:

Tricky919 11-30-2003 09:22 AM

Yes, i had it under the back seat, it secured with two small plastic brackets with two screws each and then it has straps that wrap around the tube and go through the brackets. How much room do you have? they say it works best about 2 " from a corner or wall. My tube was a 10" base tube non amplified. I still have it i could measure it for you if you need to know the size.......

HyperBaja 11-30-2003 09:26 AM

The sub that comes in those is crap. Put a decent one in there and your fine.

mama tryed 11-30-2003 09:36 AM

Thanks Tricky, I got their Specs. off the Net, and should have the perfect amount of space!! Did you cut out any Holes for the sound to escape? I will probably go with the Amped. version.

Hyper,, you sd the Sub,, do you mean the Speaker itself??

HyperBaja 11-30-2003 10:05 AM

Yes. The speaker itself.

all that bass, in my opinion is not too natural sounding.
Will your motor hatch then vibrate like the lowrider Honda's trunk I see at stop lights?

Yellowbird,

There are A LOT of members that have stereos in their boats. I would say a majority of us have upgraded sound systems in our boats. You have to remember, we're not fishing out of them. ;)

There are a couple of members that make their living off of installing and selling these systems to people like us. We proudly support them whenever possible.

I think you'll find that most of us would rather have it than not have it.

What kind of turbo car?

When I get my RUF, trust me, there will be no stereo. ;)

buck183 11-30-2003 11:55 AM

Yellow,

No disrespect taken.

mama tryed was just asking a simple question about something he would like to do to his boat. I could care less if he wants to paint pink fairys all over that beautiful Sunsation.....it's his boat to do with what he pleases. Our job is to tell him the best place to get it done and what places or products we have had good or bad luck with. Simple.

Why hijack a thread over something one doesn't prefer?

I put one on my PQ, it helped the bass alot. It even came with a remote contrl for corssover and power level. I installed it under the rear bench.

I am not a big fan of the bass tubes or free air subs. I would say custom design a box and put two Kicker 10s in there and max the power(amp). Yoiu will not be disappointed. However, if you up the bass you might as well up the rest of it, tweeters, mids, cd, and subs.

Do you really think that the added weight of an amp and sub will make any difference in how fast a boat, or car for that matter, is?????

mama tryed 11-30-2003 06:13 PM

Yellowbird; I ENJOY IT when I have a Boat load of Naked Women dancing on my Boat!! Alot!! I'll be dancing and you can look at your new Guages!!

Raypanic,, Did you cut Holes out, under the Bench Seat?

27Fountain; you are exactly right, but it would cost a lot more money going that route!! and Space!!

Buck,, :D :D Where's the HAT???

Go with the Bazooka's. Circuit City had a sale on the amplified 8 inch's for $79/each I believe. Thats what I'm planning to put in mine. Great sounding subs, and they don't take up much room at all.

TopSpin80 11-30-2003 07:27 PM

Hyper is right the subs 'speakers' in those things suck, and the acoustics of a tube surrounding a speaker isn't that good. as the speaker hits, or makes a low frequency sound the cone contracts compressing the air inside of the enclosure. When the enclosure is equidistant from the speaker ei. tube around speaker. all walls act simultaneously against the speaker evenly, this is why some stereo systems have a certain resonance frequency. If you don't care about good sound or some people can't even tell the difference then they are the cheapest way to go. However for good crisp bass your box needs to be designed to the specs of the speaker and the distances which the pressurized air hits the insides of the enclosure are very important. Some people even build enclosures which have mazes inside just for this purpose. Bazooka is the cheap way to go and if you are happy with the sound they produce then go with them, but try to test them in the boat, at an audio store, so you can make sure.

The Rockford Fosgate oval tubes work much better than Bazooka. Tubes are a simple solution if you are looking for a quick fix.

I have many tubes and amps all brand new on an end of year blowout.

I run a Rockford Punch 150 briged to a 10" Bazooka in my 18 Classic Donzi. The sub fires forward up under the front deck and it has more bass than I know what to do with. I usually turn the bass down quite a bit, but leave enough to enhance the sound of the music. I also run 4 Alpine Marine 6.5's off a 4 channel Rockford (4 X 50W). The whole system is connected to an Apline head unit and it sounds great.

Hyper, you remember the Bazooka in my Donzi right???

You can take me out of the ghetto, but you cant take the ghetto out of me... :D :D
