yeah , buy one for a price- but you can get a second one half price:rolleyes: my house just seems to stay dusty ,seems like they would work. thought i would get 1, figured someone on oso gotta have one:cool:

I had one, but it made the whole room have a static smell. It ran for about a week and I cleaned it daily, then it started making a really loud buzzing noise. I got my money back. I guess mine was defective, but I didn't think it was doing all that much anyways.

Wow. Or you can just buy a simple air cleaner.

Consumer reports did an air cleaner test. They said that one did nothing at all. If you want, I can try and find the article. They did have one that outshined them all. It wasnt cheap either.

My mom has two of these with 3 cats in the house as well. They work real good in her home. I have the small one for the bathroom, it works ok.

They do work but you best bet is going to be a HEPA filtration system, either portable or in the HVAC system itself. That is the most efficient and proven way to clean your air. Now, the Ionic Breeze has and ultra violent light that by definition will kill bacteria, germs, virus, etc...but then it needs to be trapped, and that is what the hep does. A combo of the 2 would be fantastic..
Given the choice though, HEPA is the way to go. True HEPA, no junk... Trust me on this one, I know a ton about this stuff. |
allan , i see the commercials and seems to be a good product. but all you have to do is thread on oso and get good answers. my house is always dusty, alot of construction around the hood and tired of the dust. any certain make or manufacture that you can suggest????:)

YOu can go to Lowes or HOme Depto and find one for a few hundred or less. Honeywell makes them and there are plenty of other brands.
2 Keys: 1. Get a true HEPA. You want the filter to handle 99.97% of all microbs, pollens, etc. That rating is a HEPA rating. 2. Get one that collects the air from below, then blows upward (from ground toward ceiling), not the other way around. It stirs up too much setteled dust that way. These are pretty simple systems, really. The HEPA filter is what makes it work. Remember though, they can only do so much. You canont ecpect them to totally clean a room full of sawdust and debris...etc. A well moderately maintained environment is key. I am not saying the Ionic Breeze or Ozone machines do not work, some peope swear by them, all I am saying is that they HEPA is the genreal consesnus for proven methods and is safe and inexpensive. A combo of UV light and HEPA is the ultimate. Hope this helps..... |
My father has them and they work the BALLS!!! He loves them and when you pull that thing out to clean it you KNOW it is working.

Why not just have an Electronic Air Cleaner installed on your forced air furnace.
They work in the same way as the ionic breeze but they are MUCH bigger and more efficient. They take a ton of crap out of the air. But they only work when the furnace blower is on so if you run the blower constant you will have a system that will be drawing from every room that has a return air duct. Just remember that no filtration system will clean a room if more dirt is gettting in than is being taken out. Follow the instructions closely. I install them and for the price of the other unit you can just about get a good EAC installed. |
