This is a really dumb question, but...
This is a really dumb question, but where do you empty those darn porta-potties? Do you have to go to a marina, or just dump it in the toilet?
As many years of boating I have, I've never used one before. Sorry guys....:o |
Most marinas have pump out stations that they may or may not charge for. Now that I think about it, I guess you might be talking about the little removable ones... Seems like it would be a little too much for a toilet to handle. Just my thoughts.

We have one in our boat, but we have never used it either lol!
|
The first thing I do is take those damn things OUT!!!
Then I just don't ever have to worry about it ;) :D Sorry couldn't help. |
We had one in my 24 Sleekcraft and would dump it in the toilet after every trip or before dependinding upon size of our group (usage).
Well, my EX would.. I gagged so badly I almost threw up when I first did it and spilled it all over the bathroom floor. We had indoor/outdoor carpeting in the home bathroom..   :( |
The toilet handles it fine. It's just a lttle urine. Right?
Never let anyone doodoo in it. It's a good job for the wife! ;) |
Dump it in the toilet, Put a close pin on your nose, line it up take aim close your eyes and DUMP! Dont listen ether. poopoo makes a kerplunk sound.

i had to use the porti potti on my baot once. There is along horrible but pretty humorous story that goe swith this. Suffice it to say eth baot was on a the trailer and i had no choice coudlnt; hold it and there was no otehr facility. ANd one of my asshoel buddies (who was 30 minute slate and i was waiting for) shows up and is like where the hella r eyou? so i yelled back crapping in the cabin.
he realized teh keys were in teh ignoition of teh truck and summarily started it up and drove down the road. WIth the boat in tow with me on e the crapper. Yeah i was justa little pissed. He was on eth ground laughing.... point being there is generally a smaller storage tank on eth bottom of them you can remove and dump in a normal toilet. I'd recommened hosing it out and rinsing it a few times after you dump it. |

Took it out the 1st season!!! It's in the basement so i have 4 bathrooms in my house:p
I thought they were a one time thing:D Fill it up and throw it out!!:p |
Im pretty sure there is a "flusher" on ours, but I dont know where it would empty to (unless it goes under the seat itself), oh well thats beside the fact we never use ours, unless there is an emergency of course.
|
Man you have got to use the blue stuff that they use for holding tanks in your porta potti or I agree with the other posts and take the thing out....
It usually has some type of indication on the front of how full it it. It will turn from green to red. I just take it out and flush it. First time I nearly wore a gas mask just to be sure but the blue stuff works real well to keep the it manageable Mike |
there are no supid questions... only stupid people... :D
|
You know this could make a great post with a poll. I have never used mine as well. I even sold my one boat and forgot to put it back in so I have one in my garage.
|
If you have a neighbor that ticks you off just dump it into his yard:D :D :D Then hose the living hell out of it.
But if all possible leave it at home! No need to do the gag thing:p |
Never have used it. It has always sat on a shelf in the garage (where it belongs);)

I have a good story too. I keep my porta potti on board mainly for the wife and daughter. I RARELY use it. I must say though, if you are out on the water and a real gut wrencher comes along it is nice to have. Back to the story, since I don't use it much I pay little attention to it's status. One day I was out on the water and I was really "perculating". So, I went down in the cabin to take care of business. When I went to flush it, the holding tank was full to the top. So, the current contents of the bowl could not go down. Boy was I pissed. I closed the lid and headed for the marina at a very slow pace trying to avoid anything coming out. I made it back without any spillage. I emptied it out, filled it back up and put it back in the boat.
I don't think emptying those things out is as big of a deal as some make it to be. It helps keeps the wife happy. You know the saying "If she's not happy, nobody is. |
The 'UN-USED' ones can make a nice cooler in a pinch! Although it could be kinda tough to explain to the local water patrol 'that it's only melted ice that I'm dumping in the water, sir.' :D

Tie a line to it and throw it overboard while no one is looking.
|
I dump mine in the neighbors yard. Their dog craps in mine, figure were even.

Boy, I thought I was going to get laughed right off the website forever with this one!!LOL:crazy:
I used the blue stuff. It does smell much that I can tell. It was nice to have for the family, but I used it more than they did:rolleyes: ! I guess the thing to do is flush it! Thanks for all the input. It's nice to know we are all in the same boat!! :D |
I'll go 40 miles at WOT before I put a floaty in my dinghy.
|
Mine is in there, but never used (just for show).
The women on the other boats yell at me cause i don't let my girl use my toilet. Oh well.....i got over it. |
You all are crazy!! I had a porta-potti in the Formula and we used it all the time!! As long as you use the blue stuff it doesn't stink! (pee-pee only!:D :D ) I would take it home and dump it in the toilet. Then flush it out with the hose and let her dry. Good as new.
What good is it if you don't use it? |
In the water, where else!

..................After every use.
I removed my porta potti (got another 2mph :D ) and replaced with a brand new light weight user friendly one!!  |
I have one on my Checkmate mainly for my daughter and the ladies to use. I just make sure to empty it after every use and use the blue stuff. Not much more maintenance than a motor home holding tank and the women will love you for have a b-room in the middle of the river.
Funny story....... Some friends invited us to go skiing with them in a cove one Saturday and I decided to take my bow rider instead that day. (no potty on board) My dad called on the cell later that day and wanted to come and hang out. He was there for several hours and my daughter had climbed on and off his boat several times during that time. I get a call from my dad 2 weeks later asking me who craped in his porta potty..... My daughter had used it and not told anyone so my dad of course not knowing, didn't empty it. I can not imagine what it smelled like when he took the cockpit cover off his boat two weeks later..... The innocence of kids......:D |
