It's a fact- I'm a pack rat; been one all my life. I'll fix something long before I'll buy a new one, if possible.
Some things are just too damn good to stop using- whether they're well made, or you're sentimentally attached. Let's see the oldest 'stuff' you have and still use on a regular basis- Probably the oldest thing I use regularly, and have all of my life- bought new by my father in 1957.... although he died in '63, I think he knows it's one of my prized posessions...... 18hp 'Rude- perfect condition, used for fishing all summer, every summer at our lodge in Canada.... |
Nice rig! Bet more fish have been caught out of that boat than any Contender. We have one similar.

I can't beat Too Olds house, but I have a set of blacksmiths tools my grandfather owned at the turn of the century (20th) and used all during the Great Depression. One hammer was forged by him for his own use.

That's easy. Made about 1800. It was my grandfathers and I just had it restored by a master technician in Germany (friend of my brother-in-law). I'm now actually taking lessons to learn to play it. Yes, "every" beginner starts learning to play on a 200 year old violin.
