Tips for "selling" a motorcycle on Ebay

1 Attachment(s)
I've never sold anything on Ebay before. I finally listed my Eliminator/ZL900 under the motorcycles (obviously) and was wondering if anyone had any tips on this. Also does anyone think it would be worth trying to list a motorcycle in the OSO classifieds? Need input please. Thanks..... Outlaw

Have your auction end on Sunday night. Most people are home then for the prime time action. Post lots of picks, and be sure to answer all the questions that are posed. I have sold many things on ebay and bought as well

TEAMBAJA 12-04-2003 04:29 PM

Yes, he is right about having it end on Sunday night! Between 8 and 10 is about the best times. Try to be online during the final hours, because sometimes people are still asking questions before they bid.

Hey Formula Outlaw,

Are you selling the Kaw to get money for a down payment on a Harley V-Rod?

Sorry I couldn't resist:D

Good luck with your sale.

Cordell, you found me out. NNNOOOTTT. I don't ride it anymore. I've put maybe eleven hundred miles on it over the last seven years. That's nuts. That's what boating has done to/for me. It now lives it's life under about ten flannel sheets. I want it to go to someone who would appreciate the bike for what it is, and, more importantly, how I have taken care of it. Pictures don't do this bike justice. It's cleaner, shiner, and out glimmers anything on anybody's new showroom floor. And mother does it ever run.....

I put my Virago in the Cycle Trader and had over 20 emails and 10 phone calls the first weekend. Sold it for asking price.

Formula Outlaw 12-04-2003 06:50 PM

Bowtie, thanks for the input. I tried the Cycle Trader last spring with little results. Not many people really know what an Eliminator is nowadays. Especially with the "mods" I have done to it. Just thought I'd get a bigger audience with E-Bay. I'll get hold of Cycle Trader tomorrow and see what's with them. Again, thanks.

HyperBaja 12-04-2003 07:13 PM

Formula Outlaw 12-04-2003 08:12 PM

Hyper, what's that "bad boy" get for a quarter-mile time?

HyperBaja 12-05-2003 08:20 AM

Never got the chance to take it to the track. I did race quite a few hondas and acuras. I can beat integra LS from a 2mph roll :)

Formula Outlaw 12-05-2003 01:00 PM

Wicked...........

Formula Outlaw,
Here's a tip for you with trader books. (at least in my area)

If you take it to an authorized place for the picture or send them in one using the form in the book it is much cheaper and the ad can be renewed every 4 weeks for free until sold. They put the ad in whichever trader book (bike, boat, ect.) and also put it online.

When I bought the package directly online I had to pay every 4 weeks if I wanted to keep it posted on the website. It was essentially posted twice online.

The only downside to just useing the book/online was that they limit your words.

Hope you can understand what I am trying to say.

where is the LINK??

How much are we asking for this bad boy??
Buddy used to have one back in the mid 80's and I have thought about buying one

Formula Outlaw 12-06-2003 09:14 AM

Go to Ebay, click on motorcycles, type in Eliminator/ZL900, it will take you directly to the ad. Seven different photos from all angles in there. All info you might want should be there. Any questions e-mail me at "[email protected]" Outlaw
p.s., this bike will keep up with the "Big Dogs"

MnFastBoat 12-06-2003 01:07 PM

Awesome bike!!
I actually prefer the red over the black too :)

Thanks for the PM, however it is out of my $$ range. :(

Formula Outlaw 12-06-2003 03:09 PM

MnFastBoat, thanks for the interest. About six years ago in Siesta Key Beach parking lot, a guy offered me ten grand on the spot for the bike after he heard me come into the parking lot and he came over to check out the bike. Shoulda taken the money and ran. Outlaw

I was on GPN, Hyperbaja was the log in name. I stopped going there last year. Too much bull. "Uh coat your handle bars in vaseline, better wind resistance" And I have beat Reed and ORC gopeds with my LH. With an 800 spindle it threw a 220lb racer/shop owner off the back. With the 750spindle I was doing 29 next to the Vette, never GPS'd the little thing.

Throw people off the back?? I highly doubt that......What do you have internal on your engine if anything.. only stuff I saw was a jet pro pipe which arent the best top end pipes and maybe an hp carb...

I registered on gpn in 2001 and it was so good back then but there are alot of gay newbies now that post stupid stuff on it, but they dont do those stupid mod things anymore.

HyperBaja 12-06-2003 06:25 PM

yeah i think i was on in 2000/01.

pipe, carb, lightweight short skirt, milled top end, ported, my intake ports look like mirrors, rocket key, lightened flywheel, and some others.
