Stereo system in boat
I'm throwing in a custom stereo stereo system this winter, does anyone else have a custom stereo in their boat? I will post some pics as soon as it's done.
|
I got one, no pics though. Two 12 inch subs. with 4 6 1/2 inchers. One amp for the subs and one for the other 4 speakers. Its not as good as some of the ones people have on here but it cranks loud enough. When I get a bigger, better boat I will get a better system. Speakers are all Kicker marine, and the head unit is an alpine. Cant remember the make on the amps off hand.

Mine is about the same,
3 pair Kicker 6 1/2 1 pair MB Quart Tweeters 2 10" Kicker Comp subs in custom boxes. 2 punch 250 amps Sony head, 6 disc, and marine wired remote. It is plenty loud, however if I was to do it all over, it would be Babbs or MB Quart. WILL:p |
I'm doing a 10 speaker, 3400 watt system 2 18' subs and XM radio. I'm still looking for the XM tuner on e-Bay though. I bought all of the stuff on e-Bay and saved a bundle. I will post pictures upon completion.

I just did a system earlier this year on a friends Cig 28ss. Its got all Sony explode components. Four 6x9's mounted in adapters we made to cover the holes left from some crazy square speakers that were in there before. Has a 12" sub mounted in a sealed box under the seat. I made the box so the sub fires at the floor and out into the cockpit area. Its carpeted the same as the floor so you cant even tell its there. :) Its got a 800watt 4 channel amp for the 6x9's and a 1200w sub for the sub. Also has the explode headunit mounted in a water proof face plate cover. The system for what it is works great. and for a smaller boat with limited space it sounds awesome with only a single sub! Alot of people have asked him if he has more in the cabin then what he tells them is in the boat! :D
Here are some pics..... heres the head unit mounted in the cover |
heres the 6x9 mounted in the adapter we made to cover the old hole that was too big. Its a 1/8" plexyglass covered in blue vinyl to match the graphics of the boat
|
Here is the sub box i made from 3/4" MDF. If you look close you can see there is a lip on 3 of the 4 edges. That 4th side with no lip is what faces forward and lets the bass out into the cockpit area.
|
heres what the box looks like carpeted and in place....you can see the opening in the bottom where the bass comes out of....He originally wanted the sub facing into the cockpit but i told him it would take alot of abuse from peoples feet and bouncing objects. Then he wanted the Sub facing upwards into the seat.....i pointed out to him it would collect water and ruin the sub......it couldnt have turned out better this way! :D
|
Here are the amps i mounted on a 3/4" MDF back board mounted to the wall inside the cabin. This was during the tuning stages and before we made everything look all nice and pretty. notice the capacitor is not hooked up and some of the carpet is still loose around the edges. :)

and heres the boat its all in :D (cashbrains old boat :D I liek to torture Jack about it all the time :) can ya tell )

Hey Yellow Cat, That is the biggest system I have ever seen in a boat. I bet that is like wearing headphones it is so big. That system must shake the ground on shore when it is cranked. I heard a system like that in a sea ray and the ground did shake on shore. That is awsome.

Yea, that thing is going to be beast Big yellow cat!! Get pics when its complete :)

I could take pics of mine but they wouldn't look to good through the winter cover ;) Theres not really a lot of room in a 25 foot cat so I went with some suggestions from a friend who's into the car audio competition thing.4 x 6 inch 2 ways from Planet Audio.2 x 4 inch mids and 2 x 1 inch tweeters from JBL , 2 x 10 inch subs from LA sound werkz in 1 inch thick custom boxes under the deck. 3 HiPhonics 150 watt amps( rated at 8ohms,but driven at 4 ohms) a Clarion marine head unit with wired remote and a clarion marine 6 pack cd changer. Not the biggest system around but crystal clear and pretty darned loud when necessary :)

Is post #20 for real or somebody perfecting thier technique with Microsoft Paintshop?
|
