"Affordable" Fountain 35

Anybody see the review of the Fountain 35 w/ hopped up 575's??? It is good to see that Fountain is getting with the times and bringing there boats up to modern times. But let's be honest, who would pay $340,000 for a 35 foot boat?? Looks like you Fountain guy's are going to need a new complaint about Outerlimits boats, looks like fountain 35 is more expensive than a comparable 37 OL. :D

outer42 12-10-2003 08:54 AM

fred you mus be drunk to compare a 35 foutain to a 37 ol. reggie mus be smokin something too, 340,000 for a 35 with 575's mus want to pay some of his bills or hair dye.

animalhouse 12-10-2003 08:57 AM

Scott, Not comparing boats, just price. I agree you would have to be sniffing some of Reggie's hairspray to pay that much monay for the 35. What does the intercoolers (aftermarket) do for the warranty on thos 575's??? As we all are aware, OL gets a 37 to run a 100 w/ STOCK 525's.

outer42 12-10-2003 08:59 AM

probally void warranty if its not done by merc.

animalhouse 12-10-2003 09:08 AM

Overly inflated? This 35 makes the OL look affordable.

outer42 12-10-2003 09:20 AM

all boats are overly inflated and parts. you guys say ol is overpriced. animal house is trying to prove apoint. the new cig 42x is 788.000 grand with 1050 sterlings.
too old you have the deal jus jump,i need a reason to go to piggy park in columbia.

SS930 12-10-2003 09:32 AM

Oh this has the makings of something good! :D :D :D

dockrocker 12-10-2003 09:43 AM

Hey now! Reggie is just helping you guys out - he sells you a boat with the price of 42' so you can brag to your friends, calls it a 35' so the wife and the insurance company is happy, and delivers one that is 32' so that you save on trailer, lift, and storage costs!

Man, you neanderthals need to get with the program; Reggie came up with this outstanding plan after he invented the stepped hull and it's the greatest thing to hit the boat marketing world in ages!

Tricky919 12-10-2003 09:54 AM

OBSESSED WITH FOUNTAIN ARE WE?

animalhouse 12-10-2003 09:58 AM

Tricky, you figured it out, I am addicted to fountain powerboats. :D

I am just stating the facts, in every thread that involves the words OUTERLIMITS, some fountain owner comes on and bashes OL for being priced rediculously high.

The numbers don't lie

OutLawRacing 12-10-2003 10:26 AM

this is too funny........., blah, blah, blah, just get a Top Gun

outer42 12-10-2003 10:41 AM

top guns are jus as high with #6and 900 600,000

105mph_38_2003 12-10-2003 11:23 AM

Thats the MSRP on the Fountain and the actual selling price is a lot less...I paid $227k OTD on a trailer for a 2003 38' Lightning w/500efis. On OL's I am finding that typically they take about 20% off the spec sheet before you start beating them down.

The epoxy hull 37' Stiletto has a msrp of about $510k and can be bought for $380k or so....

StrikinLightnin 12-10-2003 11:46 AM

Last summer I priced a 2004 42' Lightning
with 525's.
The price of the Fountain was $239,900 without
a trailer.
This was a classic deck with the deep step hull.
I was talking direct to Fountain.

Go stir the pot somewhere else....

GLH 12-10-2003 12:00 PM

Wasn't Fountain selling new 35's for $150kthis summer. So that's $200k more for the upgrade from 496HO to 575's man those 575's must be special at 100k each...

Tricky919 12-10-2003 12:10 PM

Animal, tell us where you got these #s from?

animalhouse 12-10-2003 12:11 PM

This month's issue of powerboat magazine.

outer42 12-10-2003 12:14 PM

that was last summer and they where trying to get rid of all there invetory.

Tricky919 12-10-2003 12:14 PM

Thanks, i want to check that out......

105mph_38_2003 12-10-2003 12:36 PM

That is the full MSRP price. Marsha had a 42' Lightning w/525's for $259k. On the 35' Executioner w/496 HO's they were selling for about $135k last I knew.

Who pays anything close to msrp for anything?

On my 38' it would have been about $40k more to go with 575's but I planned on doing Prochargers right from the start...

outer42 12-10-2003 12:39 PM

105mph jump and buy a ol i'll sell you my 42gtx,so i can get a 42 expoxy.

105mph_38_2003 12-10-2003 12:44 PM

I talked to Mike Fiore for a long time the other day and he's leading me in the right direction:D:D

Do you have a half cabin? I have a budget of about $400k so I think you will be out of my price range:(

I almost bought Alberts old 42' but I need a place to throw my junk:)

105mph_38_2003 12-10-2003 12:46 PM

So only a measly $125k between a 35' Fountain and a 37' OL Stiletto epoxy:rolleyes:

I'll take 2 please:):)

I didnt think you had a boat, since you never talk about it and always talk of getting an OL

I sold it a few months ago. Originally I wanted an OL but found a deal that I could'nt pass up on the Fountain

epeek 12-10-2003 07:41 PM

Wow, I just got home from work, saw my new powerboat
mag, read about the Fountain and said to myself, I
think I'll start a thread on this boat. So I turn on the
computer, log on OSO, and low and behold, there's
2 pages on the subject! Am I the only guy here that
works until 6 pm! Anyway, What struck me is not the
cost of the boat itself, but the engine upgrade.
75K for 575's. So what does that make them worth?
considering the stock power is probabley 496's, and
they are probably worth 20-25k new, that makes the
575's come in at 100k! Holy CHIT! Are these guys nuts?
No wonder they can't sell any boats.Who the hell can
afford them? No knock on Fountain (I own one) but Jeez
350k for a sit down & rather small 35 footer. They have
to be crazy. Just my .02

Katapult 12-10-2003 07:54 PM

I love this stuff !!!!!!!!!!! Who said ? Any given item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it .
Back to the first rule of boating 'you gotta nuts to start with '

Katapult 12-10-2003 07:55 PM

it :(

outer42 12-10-2003 08:12 PM

WHAT WE ALL PAY FOR BOATS AND PARTS ARE NUTS!!!!!
I'M STARTTING A REHAB FOR PERFORMANCE BOATERS!!!!!!

liquid asset 12-10-2003 09:29 PM

Good find too old, I'm glad you set the record straight, I am looking at buying a used 35 Lightning, I hope it all works out, I have a hardon for this boat . I can't wait, I hear the 35 is an awesome boat

DoTheMath 12-10-2003 09:56 PM

So, I think that whole boat deal is nutz!!!! Right from the get-go, $18,000 for Superchillers!?!?!? And $20K for that paint!?!? I think Reggis has been sniffing some of that Imron! Talk about sticker shock! Discounts or not, that is just nuts!! Gimme an OL or AT for a little extra $ any day...

Didn't an AT (RadioActive) run about 100 with 675 Eikerts!? Close enough for me, thanks.

\

That would be ThunderDans' boat...An OL Q4 boat with KE 675's ran 110. The OL was a #6 boat....

DoTheMath 12-10-2003 10:16 PM

105- comparing twins to twins though - Dan's AT with (2) 675 KE's ran about 100, with Bravos, which is basically the same power as the 35' Fountain in PB this month. Seems that the AT is right there with the Fountain but with more usable boat / hull and a custom built boat to boot.

Back4More 12-10-2003 10:16 PM

Jack the price up so at the boat show you knock off $80K and the guy thinks he got a deal.
I think you could get that boat for $189K
