Pulling engines this winter
 

I'm having my marina pull the engines this winter to replace corroded Y-Pipes (not sure how long my JB Weld is gunna hold ;) ). What other things should I do while they are out. Here is a list of things I was thinking about. Any other recommendations?

1999 454 Mag MPI's
1995 Bravo I's

- replace impellers
- clean engine compartment
- replace spark plugs, wires, rotor

Hoses, belts, circulating pumps, paint the engines to match the color scheem of the boat, set of headers, prochargers, computer reprogramed, send the bravo to teague to be upgraded for the extra power, send the props off to be worked and labed, just a few ideas.

Make sure to check the drive coupler that bolts to the fly wheel it does wear out and you have to pull the engine to replace it.

I'm pulling my crank this winter, I'ts too damn cold to work on the boat.:D :D

seriously though,you may want to go through all your wiring and check for corosion on contacts while you have lots of room to get around in there.

I second the coupler.

Bill, the couplers were replaced when the motors were installed. You should only have 2 seasons on them now. I'm not sure how long they last though.

Viginia boating .. salt water? Check the oil pans. I had to pull mine to replace, but it was @10 years old .... starters can be a pain too ... just food for thought. Have fun!

I'd like to pull mine and clean/paint bilge, rewire, remount trim pumps, etc etc "Soon babe, soon .. I'll be finished real soon, honey ... Only couple dollars more sweety" LOL :p :D
