Cat,

Actually, Laith won yesterday in Abu Dhabi (last race of 2003 season) finishing with one picklefork - the other was ripped off during the race. Iimagine going 150mph 6 inches off the water...with your picklefork ripped off? Picture Tom and Jerry running St. Pete with their damage and adding 40mph and winning.

He finished 4th in the championship points after finishing second last year. He is the most exciting pilot on the F1 tour...he either crashes or stands on the podium. He had equipment woes this year as well. In short, he won't be racing offshore any time soon. He wants to be the first in/offshore World Champion....and he will be. BTw f1 is serious competition

and those guys have great racing every time they hit the first buoy.
It's the Offshore guys that "hit the first bouy"

It would be hard for them to be too big but easy for them to be too small. Generally, they are adequate but in a race like Orange Beach bigger would be better on the long course legs (especially when the sun is low late in the season).

I'd rather see two bouys mark a turn than a single large one. That way when one gets taken out the race can go on under normal circumstances. Larger bouys would pose more difficult to secure in windy conditions. The small bouys are effected and drift. On many occasions we have the GPS programed with course coordinates only to learn during the parade lap that the course has drifted.

In general, the current bouys work fine on the stadium courses.
