Default OT: Visor Garage Door Openers

Nowthis is offtopicfor sure, but you guys normaly come thru so...

1999 MB SL500 - visor garage door openers were programmed for my old garage doors. Now I've moved and can't get them to learn my new door codes.

2000 YukonXL - same story.

Does anybody know the trick to clear out the old codes or to force them to learn the new (Genie rolling-code openers) codes from the existing remotes??

I checked the MB and GM websites and both cars are compatible with the rolling code technology.

I plan to call the dealers tomorrow (cars and door openers) but am anxious to get this figured out. It;s got me stymied.

There might be a "learn" button on your opener. You have to push that and then push the button in the car. I had to do that on my X. This might work for you also.

If I remember correctly(and sometime I don't) in both my Tahoe and Yukon you needed a regular opener for the door. Push and hold you button in the vehicle till the light starts flashing. Now holding the remote button (pushed)next to the button in the car. When the one in the car stops flashing ...it's got it. May take up to a minute to stop flashing.

They are homelink compatible cars.

They (the cars) have both been previously programmed for older (non code hopping) openers.

I did what mopower suggests, but definitely stopped before a full minute had passed. I probably gave up after about 30 seconds. I guess I'll try longer.

The openers DO have learn buttons on them, but the homelink site said to do the learn on the car first using a working remote.

I will try the full minute route first, and if that doesn't work I will try to go directly to the opener and hit the learn mode on it.

Thanks guys..

It took me a few times to get mine to work. Make sure you read the instructions CAREFULLY.

Those openers are from my company. If you have any trouble, let me know.

Look at the back of the opener mounted on the garage ceiling. Their should be a button of some sort(mine is square)that just sticks out. Press the button on the opener and hold it for about 3 sec....Then get into you car and press and hold the button in your vehicle to learn the new code...This is what worker for me

The opener and your car should link up and then you should be set
