Scope Poker Run

I have a couple of my customers that want to do a SCOPE run this coming spring. When is the run and where do you start from? I will need to travel lift them in and a place to store the trailers and my truck while they do the run. Any marina suggestions would be great,do I need to reserve slips or is it all handled thru poker run registration. Phone #'s would be great if possilbe, thank you Steve.

Steve-

The 2004 SCOPE event calender is not not cast in stone yet. They normally don't release any dates until it is all settled. We do much more than just a poker run out here! BUT, the poker run is a HUGE event and tons of fun.

All the docks are handled with the registration so if you sign up, you don't need to reserve anything. We also block off rooms at the sponsor hotel, and you do have to reserve that (once it's squared away).

There are two courses, and it all starts from Long Beach. Once stays along the coast while the other is about 100 miles long and goes 32 miles of open ocean to Catalina Island. A typical course goes from Long Beach, Catalina, Newport, Las Alimitos, San Pedro then to Long Beach for the CASH!!!! Over $30,000 paid in CASH prizes last year!!! This, plus over $20K to charity (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation).

Keep an eye on the www.SCOPEinfo.com site. It's a great event for the whole family, and for the charity.

Last year there was a rumor that the docks where we normally tie up at, near the main tent area, were going to be unavailable this year. Has this changed?

Hot Water-

There is a ton of planning going on. There are also alternate locations in Long Beach being reviewed.

The Poker Run card collection day is on the Sunday. Saturday would be a great day to schedule a run over to Catalina, moor the boats and enjoy the town of Avalon. A late afternoon return will give you the eye opening experience of how we do it on the Westsiiiiiiiid

Never got them, I did get a strong cold and a case of the "Long beach itch" for about two days.

I look forward to meeting you guys, should we be out there thursday and get put in on friday or dosen't the runs start till satuday? I have to bring one of the boats from florida and the other will come from michigan,so I am trying to be well informed about the run. Thank you,Steve.

cigarette1 12-17-2003 10:01 AM

Maximize .... have the boat in the water Friday. That's a good day to see the area. You can run down to Newport Beach for a lunch in the harbor or run around Palos Verde point to Marina del Rey oe even a little Catalina run. You can't miss the party Friday night. It's always a jammed packed event at one of the local restaurants on the water.

Be there or be square
