Im going with the MES 2500
Im buying the cruise N comfort MES 2500 small 2500 btu air/heater unit.
Its non compressor based so the only moving part should be a fan. It's so small Im mounting it right in the sleeping area so I can have it blow directly on me. Thanks I have no clue how many BTUs would be needed to cool or heat a boat. I know my window unit in my living room is 8000 and that cools down a 24x12 room pretty good.

here is the link for dc breeze. Installing a unit in a pantera. If you read thru the spec/instuction papers, you will find there are a few up-grades that must be done in order to run this system. One thing YOU CAN NOT DUE IS use a highspeeg scoop with the 12vdc they supply with the kit. There is no t-stat with the system unless you buy a digital controller. If not , its a straight three speed fan. And two 27 gel batteries will not last long at 40 amps continuse use. So check it out:

Yes, in a well insulated home. In a boat a 2500 BTU unit might cool a Top Gun bathroom.
I can tell you that a 1500 watt hair dryer can warm up a house bathroom pretty quickly and the little cabin of my 27 isnt a lot bigger in term of total square feet. Im sure I wont be spending much time below deck in havasu in the sun, but if its blowing right on me Ill probably be ok camping after the sun goes down for a day or 2. Is this the right unit for a 43 cig- no , but Im gambling itll be fine within reason for my 28 foot boat. The begining of the thread was not ours, It was for some system that was $6000 and 6000 btu. Our unit comes in 2 sizes 4000 btu and 6000 btu. These units use a technology that turns the 2 or 3 small dc compressors off or on when needed with the included digital lcd thermostat. It works very well and there is a you tube video if you do a search for 12 volt air conditioner. All the spec can be found at coldmarineair.com:rolleyes:We have found from our own boat that the cabins are very well insulated with foam, vinyl, fiberglass and half the boat is in the cool water.

This looks to be smaller?

That Cruise air unit may be a little smaller, but it is a ac system with a power inverter. Our unit does not use a " power module" aka power inverter. No other unit out on the market has the ability to step it self down to draw very low amps when the cabin is close to the desired temp or on a day or night that is not so hot. Our unit also includes a digital t stat that controls our system. www.coldmarineair.com
