OSO at work
Has anybody been reprimanded for OSOing at work?
Or you sneaky enough?:chick: |
no but i sure do a lot of minimizing :)
|
My group (Network Engineering) does the monitoring.
|
luckly my boss is into boating so its no problem here :D
|
I'm on the same page as Craig :D
Cant get caught when you monitor yourself :) But i still have to watch when people walk in the office. Here is a little trick i learned for a quick hide..... Keep OSO running in one window, and something work related in another window. Scroll OSO threads using the arrow/pageup/pagedown keys, and use the mouse only when necessary (like clicking on a thread to get into it from the main section). You can use the ALT+LEFT ARROW key to go "BACK" to the main section (so you dont need the mouse click BACK every time). This is where i get sneaky: The i Keep my left thumb on the ALT key, and left pointer finger on the TAB key (while using the right hand to scroll the thread). When someone comes in the room, Hold down the ALT key and hit the TAB key and let go of the TAB key.....This quickly will 'flip flop' back to the other window containing the work related program. I do it this way because it keeps my hands off the mouse, and doesn't make me appear to be 'surfing' as much. You can always tell when someone is surfing when they are not supposed to.....because they quickly go to click on the minimise or close window when you walk in. My way is way less obvious, and you will be less likely to get snagged. |

Surfing OSO at work? You have to be kidding! I wouldn't do that....:D
|
Home Office baby!!
|
You home office people suck! :D
|
Knock on wood...haven't been busted yet! :D
I'm farely safe, my office is a corner with a window behind me and the computer facing away from foot traffic...No one can see what the hell I'm doing! :D:D:D |
hi-perf-2000,
thanks for the tip. I tried it and now it will be less conspicuous when I'm surfing. I hate minimizing when I hear the door open it seems too obvious. Nobody here at work is into the boating thing. |
I work at home, and am always on the computer. Mr P sort of got in trouble at GM though, so he has to be careful. I think they are on his case anyway since sometimes he tows his boat to work in the morning so he can hit the lake in the afternoon.
Just this morning I found out our CAD guy at the main office got fired. The owners wife was installing some new software on the office computers and she found a lot of porn sites and pictures downloaded on his computer. The poor guy just moved into his first home two weeks ago and now a week before Christmas is out of a job. I would hate to be him, having to tell his wife what happened. |
The only time I'm here is during work. I don't get in trouble for OSO but I don't get anything done either.
hey, gotta have priorities right. |
We just got a new server that is more accessible to our home office so I have to wonder how much they will be checking on us now. Knowing my luck, lots!
|
I'll be working at home in a few days, So if you think
Im bad now, I'll be on all day :D :D |
There's usually alot of items of interest that come across on OSO but I have nobody to share them with here at work. I have to wait till I get together with my boating buddies. Of course there are some OT items that people are interested in. An example would be the
thread, "Saddam and Photoshop". We all got a kick out of the pics. Shared with fellow workers, not the bosses. |
Alt-Tab!
And I keep a busy spread sheet - with colors - on the other page, just in case. I don't really get hassled based on the nature of my work, (always out on the web doing research anyway) but it's always good to be careful...;) |
OSO is more important than work.:D
|
My office is on one side of a warehouse and the only entrance to the warehouse is on the other side. I adjusted the door closing device to "easy" so the door slams shut. Gives me plenty of time to clear history and close all windows.
|
I bust myself all the time!
Oh ****! Here I come again........... |
LMFAO
|
nobody tells me what to do!
|

Not me. I keep the uncensored section open even when I'm not in the office. This way my boss can come in and steal porn off my computer.
:D Roby |
You guys who keep clearing the history folder are fooling nobody.
Roby |
OSO at work? No way! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.:D  :D

Boat is literally 8 feet away... out the window.... Now, if only I was on the water in SoBe.
|
I'm looking at the lake right now...bunch of duck hunters out there this week!
Oh well...time for a NetMeeting;) |
On busy days it's harder to sneak a peak to see what threads are going on but on slow days it's hard not to just sit and lurk for 8 hours. I'm addicted........damn!

The only person to monitor me is OSO. Home office, NOT, how about Domestic Engineer and my job responsibilities include surfing OSO.:p
|
I'm sneaky.....
|
Family business here , I think they're on to me - BH
|
joker, watch out.......they may disown you for sluff'n
|
Kinda hard to get in trouble when my boss usually sits at the computer next to me and surfs the net himself. Hey, as long as I answer my calls.
And dont get caught by the Chief! :D |
chit, everybody at my job loves oso, always something good to laugh at:D 5 computers in the office so never a problem:p:D :D
