bro you should see the thing up close.. i wish i had a camera that would pick it up.. the freehand airbrushing is UNREAL.. which it sounds like you guys know your paint.. when you look at the paint your eye just jumps for air brush marks to air brush marks.. i can see how they did it but no way i could come close (it would like drippy the paint gun if i tried it..LOL)...and the rest of the boat is all tri-coat coloring.. if your in the area stop by and look.. can't promise sea trails.. but if i could..

glassdave , i have a guy ivy troxsclair here in new orleans that did the paint and graphics on the nor-tech that total marine did the quad rotor motors. he said "never again" he asked me to help sand and polish and i was like "i'm booked ,sorry". i did not want any part of that job i will stick to my job with lincoln/ mercury. i love those new car gravey jobs i am suprised at how much work we have in the shop being the holidays. flaged 86 hrs this past week there are painters and then there are artist- and the list you gave is the best in the country , period

all i can say is when it came time to sand/buff the 39 ocean express i was sure glad 3M made 1200 grit color sanding paper for the DA. i couldnt imagine wetsanding somthing that big. although i have seen MicherT wet gitterbugging his stuff. what ever works i guess and hes one of the best. its tough to make the jump between boats and cars i personaly would do nothing but boats. if you like seeing the process MicherT usually posts start to finish pics on fastboats(dot)com. when i did the OceanX i spread the actual spraying over 4 seperate days 18 hours for each side15 hours for the rear deck and hatches and 24 straight hours for the foredeck (started at 9:00am on saterday got done 9:00am the next day ) lots of grahpics and you know we only have that 24 hour window to get clear on
those nortechs are awsome. i will have to see if i can find a pics of the one you are talking about. have a good one man

people i know that do big graphics with alot of colors use dupont 222 after all the colors are applied because of that window. have a friend KAL and he does alot of crazy paint and alot of stuff on car glass, tow trucks, etc and he sprays a coat of 222 on the glass first and his work sticks. it is a really good product. i am a sikkens man myself but i will use 222 on jobs that i know when i am going to blend a difficult color it doesn't let the base " stand up" or "catch " the da scatches and trace. use 3m 600 on all my jobs and for polishing i also use the 1200 on the foam da pad. i tell ya , that foam pad for the da paper is the best idea 3m could have came up with. eric.......

yea, funny thing about that pad. when they first came out with the fine paper i tried it after a friend suggested it only he didnt tell me about the pad. well . . it dont work without the intermediate pad i thought it sucked and didnt try it again for like another year. go figure, i guess it pays to check with your reps now i do all my sanding dry. i'm a PPG guy miself, do all my graphics in DBC and use DBC5000 to drag out my time (same as 222 i think) 2021 Concept clear
