What's this boat worth?
This is the second run for this 35' Cafe Racer. The reserve wasn't met last time. What would be considered a good deal on this? Is the work involved to finish it too costly to warrant the purchase? Any thoughts?

Your gonna think this sounds bad, but it's worth $17,000. You will have a hard time selling after transom work if you buy it.

Don't think it sounds bad at all. I have much experience with high performance cars and street rods, worked on them since I was old enough to hold a wrench, but boats - especially hi perf boats are new to me. I am relying on you guys to keep me from making an expensive mistake in the name of learning experience, so don't hold back. Your opinions are appreciated. Thanks for the link to the thread, I didn't know if stringers were a big deal or a simple fix, now I have a better idea. I may bend your ears a bit and ask stupid questions but if you will put up with that I am a quick learner. Thanks

There are a few buys that know about this boat and I am sure they will chime in to hlep ya out.

After the info I got here this boat is a definite pass. If I had experience already I might consider tackling this kind of project but I don't think the price would be low enough to consider this anyway. I can do plenty of work but I'm looking for something structurally and mechanically sound. Paint job, upholstery, electrical, all within my abilities. I would like to find something that's just been neglected for awhile, aged a little, and the owner has lost interest.
