Smallest Offshore With Twins??

What was the smallest offshore boat ever built with twins? We're not talking wierd little one-offs here. The smallest legitimate offshore with twins.

I vote for the early Formula 233 (the one Aronow raced).

RebarBox 12-19-2003 10:00 PM

Don't know what you are defining as 'offshore' or 'one-offs' but Mirage made a 25' with twin 330's and American Offshore made (I think one) 26' with twin Big blocks. The Offshore had trouble planing - never saw the Mirage run.

ThirdBird 12-19-2003 10:15 PM

Thats cool Rebar,,,,, but the late model Formula 242 had twin 350s. Lots of 26-27 footers out there over the years with fat-blocks. Anything smaller than 24' with twin V-8s??

apache21 12-19-2003 10:17 PM

I rode in that 2600 AO with twins it sat low in the water, but it was fast

packinair 12-19-2003 10:28 PM

I have a 23' sanger alleycat with twins

Payton 12-20-2003 06:19 AM

Audiofn 12-20-2003 07:17 AM

Audiofn 12-20-2003 07:18 AM

Nope it was the 242. Must be fun to work on......NOT :D:D

My first Formula, Synergy, was a 242 LS with twin 350's.
Had a lot of "Summer Fun" on that boat.

My last boat was a 22 Velocity with twin Merc 200's. Now some may not consider this a offshore boat, however this boat was known as "The Joker" back in the day when Art Lilly use to race her. I have talked to Art a few times about the boat and even have talked to people that have seen it race. He was trying to find some pics of it for me but I think they were lost in his shop fire some years back.

The boat had no cabin on it just reenforced stringers under the bow. The boat was built to run and we did a few poker runs but over all the boat was to small for the bay. I sold the boat to a guy in bermuda and talked to him a few days ago and he loves it. Sometimes I wish I would have not sold it!!!! Here are some pics...

Not sure of your definition "offshore" but if its deep V, thunderboat row, Donzi had a 21' G.T. with twins. That's the smallest on this thread so far.

Cig30, that certainly fits my description. That little Donzi is just about the coolest thing I've seen!!! I had no idea Donzi put twins in a boat that small.

Thats whats so great about this board,,,,,,, just when you think you know something,,,,,, bam!!! You learn something new.

I really would have bet on the 233 Formula. Thanks for showing us that little beauty!!! Now, thats collectible.

Dave:cool:

FunHome 12-20-2003 02:21 PM

Regal had a 250 VRS with with Big Blocks....It wasn't fast but I remember the mechanic's said to change the spark plugs you had to remove a exhaust manafold or the easier way was to lift the motor out of the boat!!!
What a pain in the a$$!!!

martiniboat 12-20-2003 02:22 PM

Sweet Donzi!

ThirdBird 12-20-2003 02:23 PM

Just went over to the Donzi.net board to get some more details about that little 21GT. That guy did what appears to be a very nice restoration on that boat. It is stunning to look at. How cool would it be to pull up to the local watering hole in that little hot rod!!!!??

Guy wants 18k for it, seems entirely too cheap to me. Thats a really good deal if the resto is good.

Hmmmmmm, Honey, you said you wanted a smaller boat,,,,,, how about this one??:D :D

That friggin thing is too cool, I gotta stop thinking about it!!!

Donzi 21GT had twin Small Blocks.

21 Hustler 12-20-2003 04:54 PM

On my lake, there is a 21 foot Skater with twin 2.5's. It is wild looking, i have heard the acceleration is unreal and that it tops out around 130's...talk about a crotch rocket

Justin

cuda 12-20-2003 06:54 PM

I've been lusting over that 21 GT for a while now. It is one clean resto, and you don't have to worry about someone pulling up to you with one just like it.:)

"Siverwing" with twin outboards. Think it might be an 18 footer? Something like 120mph too! Sorry, not time to research and confirm...

Re: Smallest Offshore With Twins??

I don't think that egg beaters count.

I think that he meant smallest with V-8s in the bilge.
