Hang in there!! I had them about 6 years ago on a summer vacation. They hurt really bad for about 2 - 3 weeks. The welts did not totally fade for 3 months. Plus I still have some scars. Obviously don't scratch them they will leave scars. Plus I am sure you would not touch them any way. I basically did nothing for them and tried to not have any thing touch them like shirts and clothing. I did take Zovirox (sp?) its an oral pill.
In younger patients it can be caused by stress which in turn weakens the immune system. Some with depressed immune systems will get them to like Aids Patents and the old and weak. I was neither an I got them so who knows.
Good luck and don't worry the nice thing is once you have had them you usually never get them again. Sometimes they become chronic but most times in the elderly.
