Hyundai/Suzuki/Kia
Anyone driven one of these cars? 5k for a bran new car, I figure Ill buy one a year old, pay 3k, low miles, good gas mileage, less likely to speed (I said that when I got my truck to

I work in the business and they all suck. I would spend the money on an older Civic or Corolla and bypass the Korean cars. The Suzuki isn't too bad but they have problems with optional stuff.
That said a lot of problems I see with them are due to owner neglect- if you take care of them your results may be better.

They tend to find homes with people who drive them till they quit. Never change the fluids or filters, etc...
The used ones out there ended up being total junk due to the neglect. Resale value was nonexistent.
The mfrs began to institute 10-yr warranties and free dealer servicing. The warranty stayed in effect as long as you comein for your free servicing.
This is an effort to revive the resale value and reliability concerns of their products (and I think its a good idea).
If you decide to go with a Kia, etc., then get one that has a 10-yr warranty and the service records show the servicing has been kept up to date. Then sell it with a year left on the warranty. That's the only way to get some of your money back..

Forget these cars, Hyundai/Suzuki/Kia. Go with what Insptech said, good used Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. I have several of them in my fleet and they are trouble free. I have been using them for years. All we do is change the oil and filter regularly and they just keep running. I also get my best return on my investment when I go to sell them.
Right now, I have several 2002 Honda Accords and Civics for sale at wholesale if you or anybody else is interested. Also, plenty of Mazda Proteges and 626's and Nissan Sentra's.
For those of you interested in something a little more uppity, I have:
2000 MB CLK430 Convt. 21k miles
2000 MB S500 Sport 33k miles
2002 Corvette Convt. 9k miles
2001 Porsche Boxster S 21k miles
2003 Hummer H2 11k miles

my mom has one to commute to work in. The hyundai's have come along way. For the money they are damn good.
