steering quiz...
Ok, this is a test for the board. See how many different hydraulic steering manufacturers you can come up with. Imco and Marine Machine are two that come to my mind. How many can you come up with? Oh, yea. You have to post a website too.
http://www.imcomarine.com/content.html http://www.marinemachine.com/ If you want to know my motive...I'm trying to find a drive bracket that will compatable with my Innovative Marine top cap. |
XS Marine (Maxx and Alfster on OSO):)

Cord,
I have IMCO hyd steering and also run an Innovative marine drive shower top cap. The brkt replaces the rear facing upper cover. It is single ram but I'm sure they have it in dual ram setup as well. Dave |
Thanks for the link klaw. Not much of a website, eh?
Big-yes. I currently have the IMCO rear cap, but this is for my "poker run" drive. IMCO only offers the cast brackets for the Bravo drives. Otherwise they go to the stainless plates which bolt to the top cap. What I need is a bracket that will come off the mounting bolts. |
WPM Racing http://www.wpmracing.com/catalog.htm
Ziger industries / World class steering (something like that) I seen them at the 2003 Miami Boat show |
Thanks Ray. I tried doing a search for them, but couldn't find it. Now that I look at the bracket, I wonder if I already have it at home. It's not polished so I never looked at it twice. Man, that thing sure is beefy. The plate must be 3/8"!
|
Cord,
How about something that is custom fabricated ??? I deal with a couple of guys who can probably make you something. They did the box under my seat to clear the blower. It is race car quality. Of course that is what they do. They are currently building a Nascar based car to go to Nevada to win the Silver state classic again. The car is supposed to run over 240 in the straights !!!! Let me know and I can hook you up with them. They are right near the Chain O lakes in IL Dave |
Cord, the bracket that came on my Super Hawaii is from Conner. I don't think they are in business anymore, but I think Latham is very similar. Mine bolts to the mounting bolts. But it covers the drive vent scew on the side. The bracket has to be removed to vent the drive for refilling, or the top cap has to come off to vent.
If you need I can post a pic tonight. Happy New Year |
Big-I'd rather keep this a stock item, but I'm always looking for a good referral. Especially for somebody that's local.
Payton-if they are out of business then there is no need to post it. That's a good point you make about the bracket blocking the vent hole. If you have a drive reservoir, does the vent hole ever need to be accessed? |

I would "think" that you'd be pushing the air back up the line for a complete fill. Of course you would have to loosen the cap or things would be interesting.
|
I would recommend you PM MAXX or Alfster they can make anything and it is top noch I bought a sterring system from them for my boat and it has been great!!
Todd |
Cord, the plate on my hawk is from WPM and it is 3/8 thick

Cord you should have said useful links that web site has been like that for years why even bother
Here is the Alfster bracket I had had some of the first ones and they used some of my design ideas dont think you can find a stonger one it uses the drive mounting bolts as well as the two cap mounting bolts works great |
klaw-any idea how much that bracket was?
Air-thanks for posting. I was hoping you would. Am I correct in assuming that a bravo bracket won't clear the bh rear cover? Those two bolts shown above, don't even exist, right? |
If you wanna call Latham they have (2) 800 #'s one is 1-800-422-RAMS ask to speak to Tommy he will answer ANY questions you have. Latham is pricey but you get what you pay for and if it comes from there it works!

I have attatched another shot showing it partially assembled maybe this will answer your questions
give me a call if you have any more 815-236-5547 The bottom plate just goes between the two clevis mounting bolts and does not tie back to the mounting bolts Its real solid Klaw |
Hmmmm....think I would be more comfortable with a top and a bottom plate...Don't forget, I don't have those two back mounting bolts.
|
Don't forget Mayfair at Keith-Eickert.com. His bracket looks solid but is $500.
I like the looks of that XS Marine type. Any idea how much? I have the 2002 system that Fountain decided to make themselves and it only attaches at the 3 cap bolts which doesn't seem real strong to me. F |
I have a Latham set on on the Top Gun
I also have had several Hynautic steering systems over the years. |
Capalano hydraulic steering
LS JR. |
Another hydraulic steering manufacturer is World Class Marine in sandusky, OH, ph#419-621-7771. Sorry, no current web site. Info. as they sent me a catalog.
|
Cord, I have a marine machine spare bracket if you're interested I could send pix to you
|
YES! Are you looking to sell it?
|
Hi folks,
If anyone has any questions about the XS Performance Marine product line, drop me a pm. We are dealers for them and work closely with them on a regular basis. They do fantastic work, as much of the board is finding out. Let me know if you have any questions, I am happy to help. Maxx and Alfster will be very helpful as well. Thanks Allan Hilsinger Motorsports, LLC |
Allan-can you post some pics?
