I would definitely go with the diesel. I have heard from people the HEMI is a LOT better on gas mileage but my god nothing can be worse than the 360. I have a 1/2 ton quad cab with the 360 and I get about 12-13 average per tank. The reason I bought it was because the Z71 I had before it couldn't pull a pair of wet underwear off a toddler

I'd take another look at that video. Do you really think that a Duramax with a chip will smoke anything? Will it run low 11s like that F350 Ford? I have seen ultra fast Ford and Dodge diesels. But, I have yet to see a GMC Diesel run that fast. The GMC diesels are definitely the most advanced and quiet available. The Dodge Cummins is especially impressive. With a much smaller motor and two less cylinders they can make as much power as a PowerStroke if not more. They are able to run much more boost. I know of one Cummins running three sequential turbos that makes (no joke) 900 hp and 1600 lbs/ft at the rear wheels. Of course transmissions become a problem on these machines. But, there's nothing like the look on their face when you power past them in your 4x4. Pure shock.

forget the hemi if gas is a concern. I have a 2003 1500 4x4 w/hemi, just like 105mph 38's pic but in blue. It is a fun truck with a lot of power but I only get about 13.5mpg hwy. I have yet to see anything above 14.5 on the computer over the center consoul. Dont get me wrong I love the truck but would rather have the diesel for towing and actually overall. I see people claim crazy numbers for gas mileage but I just dont see it with my truck.

I can't believe all of you guys mentioning mileage...... The gas bill for any of these trucks is going to SUCK. We all own boats - then we can all start crying about gas.
I look at it this way. I put about 5000 miles a year on my truck. With gas prices in the chicago area it will take me 10 years to recoup the upcharge for the diesel in fuel savings. Also, the Duramax and 8.1 gas put about the same torque to the rear wheels due to different gearing. Pull offs have shown the same thing. I am not sure about the Hemi vs. Cummins.
The new cummins is supposed to be really good, but I have not driven one. If you put on a lot of miles it would be worth it. Does Dodge have an automatic trans that can stand up to the Cummins HO yet?

I'm a slow learner. That's why I went thru a V-8 Dakota, a V-8 Ram, and a V-10 Ram before I realized that anyone who buys a gas truck ought to have his head examined. Now have CTD.
