The coverage was for, Super Cat, Super Cat -Light and a snip of Cat PX

This is the results of time coverage of boats actually running on the race coarse

This was very unscientific using a regular watch so I give the numbers a factor of accuracy within a ½ minute or so

1) General Commercials as well as Promos on city of Orange Beach and basic Info Breaks
--26 Minutes

Actual time Racing shown

2) PX- – 2 Minutes

3) Super Cat--12 Minutes

4) Super Cat Light –8 Minutes

5) Start and Finish Intros and flags and interviews 12 minutes


Less actual racing than last weeks show with fewer classes running

Less than half the show was boats racing

I know you need commercials to make the show happen but am i crazy that almost 1/2 the show being promo is a bit much ??

You are right on boatme. About the third 10 minute commercial I posted just that, but changed my mind and deleted it. Wassupp with the commercials. I hate commercials. They didn't do that last year. 20% is reasonable, that was riduculous!

Why am I never at Lloyds creek when these "clothes removals" happen? I think you boys are messin with me now. I been going there every weekend for 10 yrs and I never saw no "bay princess" disrobe. :doggy: :doggy: Sounds kind of like the "beads" thing. :crazy:

Dave, This stuff happens in the afternoon, not at 6am!! Then again have seen a few topless or scantily clad little Betty's climb out of the cabin and forget just how close we anchored up!!!:cool:

I was watching today. Before the OB show my fiance and I were watching the Sprint Boats (I think that's what they're called) down in NZ. After the OB race was over she says that the offshore stuff was boring and that the sprint boat stuff was really cool.

Dayum! Yes, sprint boating is cool, but she just didn't appreciate (from a TV view) what jumping a 40 foot skater off of unexpected six foot slop is really like. Wow, those guys were getting some great air.

We watched the OPA races in MD this past Sept, but it wasn't ruff stuff like true offshore. I guess a trip this year to the Worlds is in order!:eureka:

PS - No offense to you OPA guys. I know you earn your flight wings in the Atlantic. Hoping to come out to Atlantic City this year to see ya.

This year was awesome!!! OB is a great place to have the worlds. Our room was at the start finish line. BIG AIR off of turn 5 all day long!!!!

Those jet sprints are cool to watch though!!

I would like to see another race at OB this year and some more helicopters.

Commercials
 

If you don't like all of the commercials why don't you send a letter to APBA respectfully asking them to run fewer commercials...........just don't forget to put a check in the envelope to offset the requested decrease in advertising income.

The quality of the productions has increased exponentially in recent years. There is a cost associated with the increase in quality. The sport will advance with high quality productions and a few extra commercials quicker than with a half-ass production on a minimal budget.

I will be glad to send copies of the half-ass productions to those that are new to the sport. You would see the difference.

As a general rule I don't watch much TV. This is primarily due to commercials. Cable was introduced as a no commercial media (20 years ago) that you could pay a premium for, which I elected to do. Speed channel is one of these and I send in my check every month. If I or others become unhappy with the commercials we can cancel our cable subscription. Not necessary to write letters or send checks unless I am a sponser and expecting something additional return. At this point I am just a paying customer with an observation. Like it or not, way too many commercials in that production. If we were an average "Nelson" family we probably would have tuned this show out after the second 10 minute commercial. Isn't the idea to get more people (and ratings) to tune in?
