Wow,
All us guys running MRD motors and nobody has anything to say....????

Well I do. Im running a 540 with a BDS 871 blower at about 5.5 psi. No intercooler. The motor was built with all top notch stuff and Skip told me to change the oil ever 10 hrs. I never dynoed the motor but according to them it makes about 700+ hp. So thats what I do. Ive also run his Dyno additive and am just having the motor freshened up right now. (after 300 hours) The engine builder says this motor is is perfect shape!. Its been about 300 hours and all I need is a couple valves and springs. Anything I have asked Skip he has been honest whether he is doing the work or not. I would highly recommend him.

Agree with ACTIVE FUN, as far as HOMAN... you bought the boat from someone that works there. That particular person could have been the shop gopher, does'nt matter. MRD builds engines and does not sell boats as far as I know. I personelly have not had an engine built by Skip BUT anytime I went there to ask questions he stopped what he was doing and has answered them. Know quite a few people that have had engines by MRD. One look at his shop says it all.
Simon, I work practically around the block from MRD. If there is anything I can do for you, let me know. Stan

Do they build EFI engines or only carb?

simon johnston 01-06-2004 01:20 PM

THANKS for the offer Stan. active fun ; it sounds as if we may have the same motors; the ones i brought have 18 hrs on them ; i brought them on the spur of the moment and had no prior history or even heard of MRD but from the positive things you have all said i am some what relieved !!!! the second reason for finding MRD was in case i have any problems i can get help/parts ect ; or even ship them back for re builds ; i know this sounds a bit strange due to distance but there arnt to many guys over here i know who no what they are doing

What about Bob Teague(Teague Marine)?

I am planning on buying his 750hp pkg, any experience with them?

Reed Jensen 01-06-2004 10:27 PM

Yeah... I've had experience with Teague Marine.... but you will have to e-mail me is you want to hear a long sob story about Bob and his work [email protected] I can guarantee..... He'll never see any more of my money.
