Default OT, Natural Pearls, any info on them??

Sorry for a OT thread, but this past week in FL I was eating some oysters and almost consumed a natural pearl. Its the size of an pencil eraser head and almost perfectly circular.

Has anyone else ever found one of these?? I think its pretty cool.

Will

Very expensive from what I was told. Most pearls that you buy in a jewelry store are cultured pearls and not authentic like the one you have...I'd get it appraised and see what you have

I've been known to create a pearl necklace or two!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

So, did you filter it when it came out? Could be worth some money

Lawsuit. Then sell the pearl. This is where the retire to florida part would be said. Buy a bigger boat.

Eva got on a pearl kick a 2 months ago so I learned all about them at the jeweler....

I was told that cultured pearls are what we mostly see in the stores because true pearls like what you found are very very rare...The cultured pearls are grown in tanks under controlled conditions and have a different texture that legit pearls.

I found a 12 mm one years ago, appraised at about $100 I think. Natural pearls tend to be creamy in color which is not preferres here in the states. It would have been worth more if it were white or blu or black
