Brian

I just started looking for a place on the lake. Did you go through someone, or did you just happen to find it ? I've seen more houses just driving around than in the papers.

Hey guys I live in cumming right off lake lanier and love it. my wife Tina sells real estate in the area and grew up here so she would be able to help you find you what you want (not what she wants to sell you like most realtors). you can also do a searches on her website for homes in the area. here is a link http://www.tinavanderhoff.com her office number is 770-205-4969.

Traffis as usual on GA400, an hour. Depends on where on the lake, it's 600+ miles of shoreline.

its fairly clear unless it rains a lot theyn it turns muddy for a few days in the creeks yes you can see your feet when you swim. one more thing when looking at lake houses check to see how deep the dock is the lake is full this year but it is usualy 8-10 feet down. there are alot of lake houses that there dock is sitting on dirt most of the time.

You should definitely check out Lanier if you are seriously thinking of moving. I went to the poker run there 2 years ago and it is a nice lake. Been around the lake a couple of times before then.

As far as expenses...compared to where you are living now I would imagine you could upgrade and be on the water for the same money or less.

Cig

Knowing what the housing prices are doing on the Island right now you should be able to sell up there, and take what you make in profit roll that into a nice place, and some investments down here very easily.
