I was offered a job in Norcross, Ga. which am giving some consderation to. Are there any lakeside homes close by etc? Also what is the average price of a home on the lake and yearly taxes?
I told my wife the only way we would move is to have a house on the lake with my own dock. Is this a possibilty?

I'll be glad to help you out. Norcross is in Gwinnett County , the fastest growing / recession proof town in the Nation. Lake house prices on the south end of Lake Lanier are 300's to use your imagination. I just bought a lake house in my home town - Gainesville , which is on the north end of the lake. Its possible, Norcross is about 25 minutes from the Lake with no traffic. The Lake you would be living on is Lake Lanier. It is rather expensive to live on the Lake. Your best bet would be to buy a lot an build. Th lake is lots of fun, once you meet a few people. Give me a call if you have more questions about the area 404 644 9539

I just bought 4 acres on the lake w/ pasture / barn / lake house and even has boat ramp. Deals are to be found , just stay away from the high profile real estate agents. BH

Joker, If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for something like that?
This offer would sure beat living here in New York with my house taxes over $7k yearly. Not to mention the boat slip @ $1550. per "season".

As far as boating season, when does fair weather start? Here in N.Y. your lucky if you get decent weather in May till Sept.

Sounds great Brian, However, I don't think I would want to commute from the North End of the Lake to Norcross during rush hour. There are also deals to be had on the South End of the Lake as well. If Cig1988 can take his time to look I am sure he can find a deal. My house is on about an acre of property on the south end of the lake. Fortunately, I got a great deal on my place which made it affordable for me. Property taxes are about $900 per $100,000 in Hall County on the South end of Lake Lanier. If you are looking on a map that would be considered Flowery Branch/Buford. The first year I lived here I boated all 12 months. If you search on the internet for Lake Lanier Property you shoud find some information. You would main ly be looking for houses in Buford, Flowery Branch, Oakwood, possibly Gainsville depending on how far you want to commute. A slip at a marina for your boat will be about $5,000 per year. I have some accounts in Norcross, let me know who you work for. Good Luck with your decision.

I'm on the north end also, and was out last week on the water. The commute to Norcross does suck---985 you fly, then on 85...boo hiss.

Search Google for Lake Lanier, there are a bunch of websites like lakelanier.net, lakelanier.com, etc.

Depending on where in Norcross, and your hours it may be a little bit of a ***** of a ride. Being from the Island myself, it's no worse than what you're dealing with now. The main thing that you'll have to get used to is it's a slower more relaxed way of life.
