Well, just to be the odd man out here. I've been dealing with Gaffrig Performance for about 8 months now and Mike Schultz has been very good to me so far.

Gongrats on your victory Mike and good luck.
Maybe when pics of my dash come out, you guys will like it.

How do you tell the difference between Gaffrig and Gaffrig by Livorsi?

US1 Fountain 01-05-2004 08:14 PM

This is more confusing to me than which is a better boat, Fountain or Apache!

How did Livorsi get the name Gaffrig? On the outside it looks like it belongs to Performance. Whats the scoop?

All things aside. Is there a difference in the gauges themselves?

epeek,
number of post has no merit to myself either. Makes it sound like you have to learn the "secret handshake" before your post can be considered. Guess it is more of a popularity contest.

CAP071 01-05-2004 08:20 PM

Kinda like Julie Sullivan owning the KE name. I guess I'm kinda confused with this whole damn thread:confused:

epeek 01-05-2004 08:35 PM

US1, Yea kind of like "The good old boys club"
around here at times.
You know what it's like being a Fountain owner.
You might as well being running a canoe around
here. There are plenty of good folks though.
Those people have helped a lot:) They also respect
others opinions. Check out the Sonic thread, Poor
guy is $hittin his pants,but because he's new,they
blew him off.

US1 Fountain 01-05-2004 08:41 PM

Too Old, I am doing a search........right here. ;)

Ok, I'll be back. :)

epeek 01-05-2004 08:41 PM

By the way,I think the Livorsi name is as well known
as the gaffrig name. So who cares. From all the stories
I have read,it sounds as if Livorsi shouldn't have been
using it anyway. Yea I know Too old,Time to rip me
up,but obviously the judge thinks so to!

mcraymond3 01-05-2004 08:53 PM

Always had great service with Livorsi.

epeek 01-05-2004 09:45 PM

I agree, but here's a senerio. Chucks hand formed
hamburgers move next door to Burger King.
Then names his joint Burger King. Then Burger
king sues, and wins the right to display the name
and Chucks has to go back to being Chucks. Don't
you think the Burger Kings owner is going to be
happy? Even though Chucks hand formed burgers
are thick & delicious? I rest my case. I'm ready for
my A$$ chewing now.
:D :D :D :D

Which Gaffrig does Fountain use?

You mean Chuck got your panties in a bunch also Fred! ;) :D:D:D

Audiofn 01-05-2004 10:04 PM

My first point on this would be if he was involved in a court case you better believe his lawer told him to keep his mouth shut.

My Second point is Mike Lav. may be the nicest guy in the world and may be the best guy in the world to deal with but the courts obviously found that he did NOT have the writes to the name. So he gets is. You can not be mad at him for that.....

Personally I will still buy my guages from Lavorsi I just wonder how my dash is going to look with some Gaffrig/Lavorsi's and som Lavorsi's. I think that everyone in the know knew what guages that they wanted to buy.

While I might be privately happy that big corporate giant Burger King was was able to whip azz on ol Chucks Burgers, I don't think I would venture into a Chucks Burgers Fan Club Forum and talk about the can of whoop a$$ I put on ol Chuck.

See where I'm coming from? I might actually further alienate the folks in The Chucks Fan Club.:p :D

Maybe he didn't know this was a Livorsi only
bunch of boaters. Maybe he thought he had a few
fans around here. Maybe he thought name
recognition means somthing to people. In many
cases, when it comes to boating, it does. I must
admit,your wearing me down though.:D I don't
think what he did was bad. I'm sure he had a long
hard battle. One that he won. He probably feels
he has a right to the Gaffrig name, and is proud
of it. If someone started using by businesses name,
I'd be pissed. Especially after developing it for years.
If that name meant nothing, why did Lovorsi use it.
Because it got his business off the ground. Thats why.
Now he doesn't need it, but at who's expense. Like
I said, I love the Livorsi product,I just spent 2k with
them, but you've got to see the other guys point.
Love ya bro' Goodnight!

ALL NEW FOUNTAIN PRODUCED AFTER THIS WEEK WILL BE SPORTING ''LIVORSI '' GAUGES. MIKE IS THE ONLY ONE OF THESE "GAFFRIG" COMPANIES THAT CONTINUES TO COME OUT WITH NEW PRODUCTS AND DEVELOPMENT. HE MIGHT HAVE LOST THE COURT BATTLE , BUT NOW THERE WON'T BE ANY MORE CONFUSION AS TO WHICH GAFFRIG GAUGE ANYONE HAS

rbtnt 01-05-2004 10:49 PM

I just wish one of them would come out with some dual gauges like the egt one they sell. I can only install so many guages, but with dual gauges I could install all the gauges I want and buy more sending units.

The Gaffrig that started this thread says "Gaffrig Performance" on their guages.

The Livorsi ones say "Gaffrig Precision Instruments"

When We do dashes for some customers we always call Livorsi, they answer all my questions and even call back asap and Livorsi will call ya back himself. Just my experiences with them.

Gaffrig vs Gaffrig...

Having been a Gaffrig Performance/Livorsi Marine customer for too many years to recall...I think everyone would be surprised to learn that both companys have been using the same gauge venders for years & years...This fact aside, as in any business, customer relations is key, product second. Mike Livorsi, in my opinion is good in marketing his wares, which has helped him immensely, hence, his following. This will not deter me from doing busness with Mike Shultz, as he also has a great product line. Ed:)

I can assure you they do NOT use the same gauge vendors ...Gaffrig Performance have tried to use the same vendors as Livorsi Marine but they have been turned down by the vendors themselves.....

Just a little note, I talked to a rep for Autometer at the NHRA races last spring, and Autometer makes the gauges for Gaffrig/Livorsi.

Treadwellmotorsports 01-08-2004 12:25 PM

hey guy's

just thought you would like to know. yes i agree mike livorsi gives you good service and will customize anything you want a long with a lot of other guy's. he doe's have a lot of the market share. but just thought you would like to know they do not make there own gauges. just about everbody buy's from one or two suppliers. then they customize the face plate and bezels.

so it really doesent matter were you get them it's who is doing the best customizing today. just remember that.

but yes i do agree mr livorsi is number 1.

Gaffrig

It sure is a shame that Mike Livorsi has spent so much time to develop a brand and excellent customer servicxe during the decade I have personally known him only to have someone come in and take what he has worked for. I will now be a loyal customer to the Livorsi guage and switch out the Gaffrig products in my boats. Livorsi you have done a great job and we appreciate everything you have done for us.
