I'm not saying its not true, I would just be a little more pissed thats all. Plus even if they are being sold they probably have started production of your boat and the buyer will take over from there. Thats if it was sold like a normal business. If it was then there shouldn't't be a problem.

TO, oh how true.

Happened to me. Put a deposit on a Sonic a few years ago, the dealership lost the right to sell Sonic, my order wasn't placed yet(even though it should have been) and they said we cant sell you a new Sonic, i said give me my money back. After a long battle I got no refund, thankfully they got a nice used one in on trade that i liked.

Purely the dealerships fault, not Sonics. Now if your order has been sent to the factory you are probably out of luck since the dealer obviously does not want to pay the payment when the boat comes in.

Look at this thread on the Sonic forum:

I called them. See my comments.

Let's not get too worked up yet. Look how many times Cigarette has changed hands. Donzi is owned by a company that build's fishing boats and I think everyone would agree that Donzi is still a great boat.

Give it time to run it's course and let and see what happens. I just recently purchased a 2001 358 and I'm as interested as anyone to see the final outcome.

Right from the horses mouth!

Just got a call from Richard at Sonic.

The rumor is FALSE. They have not been bought out. They have however been doing some acquisitions and some merging. All in the name of growth, supporting EPA standards and supporting Homeland Security.

Richard is reviewing a draft press release and it will hopefully come out by the end of the week. Sonic is still building go fast boats.

Richard said if you any questions or concerns to call him directly. Great guy to talk to.

Great news!

Richard is a gentleman and a pleasure to deal with. I have every confidence in him and Sonic.

You guys scared the crap out of me !! We just sent a 45 down to sonic for repairs ! It is due to go in today ! Hope this is OK now ..........

GO4BROKE 01-06-2004 05:52 PM

I just looked at all the threads heat wave posted on, 9 of the 14 posts he has made are about the demise of Sonic and his "going back to Fountian". I think there is an agenda here. HW, if you have an axe to grind, why not just tell us what pissed you off? I thought we had this straightened out on the Sonic Forum.

Good to hear. Why on earth did you come back north? You should have stayed in Lauderdale until this cold snap passes (around June). It's supposed to be 10* tonight.

Scott B 01-06-2004 05:55 PM

Ok, so dont shoot, this is a legitimate question: I thought Sonic changed hands several years ago? Richard is the original owner??

Scott B

Dont hate the player, hate the game :D

GO4BROKE 01-06-2004 05:59 PM

No, Jay ross was the original (I think), then he sold the company to someone else, but was retained to run it. Recently Richard bought it and runs it himself. I think he bought it last winter if memory serves.

tizbad4 01-06-2004 06:02 PM

I hear ya from 87 to 7 in one day.
Got thermostat on 90.:(

Scott B 01-06-2004 06:07 PM

Thanks G4B!

Pretty much what my memory banks said also, but all this talk about one owner just confuses an easily confused guy..

Have dealt a bit with Richard, he seems straight enough for the Florida boat scene

I WORK HARD FOR MY MONEY

Hey guys let me tell you a story why Iam so hard on boat builders.Back in 91 my father was wine and dine by Michale Aronow on a 39 Aronow, nice boat cost over 290K back then.We picked up the boat took it to Myrtle Beach and was top gun that summer.Next year Magic bought the molds at bankruptcy auction. The boat sold the next year for 150k.So now you know the rest of my story.

Waterfoul 01-06-2004 08:28 PM

So, what about Apache??

Just couldn't let a good thread get by without mentioning Apache, could I??

So, did I just hijack this thread???

CAP071 01-06-2004 08:54 PM

What's an Apache ?:D

Scott B 01-06-2004 08:58 PM

An Apache is something that comes with a Subway sandwich..

I don't know about knowing your story, I can't even understand your story. I dropped my 42 off there Monday, and saw nothing but good. Probably 25 boats in various stages of production, Got the full tour from Fred (Nice guy by the way) Saw the new building process, saw some new R & D work. Probably the nicest boat factory I'VE ever been to. I'm sure if you actually have a deposit somewhere it's safe.
