JB, I hear ya ..... I had the Cafe Racer running 75 but wanted to do 80+. For those who know, it would take gobs of dough to get a Cafe to run 80, so I sold her and bought a newer Top Gun with stock power that'll run 80-82 maybe 83-84 on a good day ;)

And then theres those of us who enjoy spending time and what money we have making boats that arent supposed to go fast, do so. Anybody can buy speed.

I did that . Had a 1989 28 Scarab.Stock ran 62mph.I tried to make it fast and only got it up to 84 . could of bought 2 more Scarabs for what I spent . I should of gave up earlier on .I had fun doing it and learned how to build motors and Bravos:eek: Now I started out with a boat with a stock set up that does low 80's.

My big question is how do you know if its a fast hull or not going into it. Do you just go off of what other people have to say or is there some sort of method that can be used. Especially when it comes to used boats. Personally I can not afford to go out and buy a new/newer boat that will ultimately have a faster hull than a 10 year old one. So what can I do to find out which one is faster?? I have had people tell me that the hull on my boat is fast, others have said its slow.

What would be a good hull (with a cuddy), in the 24' - 26' range that could get me into the mid 70's without mortgaging my house for the engine??

You should try Offshoreonly. It's a boating forum where you can gain detailed information about powerboating. Go to www.offshoreonly.com.

Formula is a nice boat. Mostly I see the LS series around by me (242LS etc.). I'll probably be in the market for something different in a year or two. My current boat is ok for now. I'll just keep my eyes open, and bum some rides to see what I like.;)
