I'd advise you to keep the old filter in the unit till you get the water balanced again, and then change it.

Might not be necessary, but I'd do it that way.

By the way -- I want to say Mr. Offshore has the best outlook on life I have ever seen on this board -- no sense crying over spilled milk. I really wasn't that worried, but I figured if I needed to change a filter or drain the tub to keep from doing more damage, you guys would know.
