I have been a marine tech; my whole life and driven everything from 60 to 160. I think when it comes down to it: Fountain has the most speed per HP,per LBS. Please just look at all the records year after year.

Rippem 01-15-2004 09:20 PM

I disagree, I believe F1 & 2 are more about acceleration and handling in tight quarters with other boats than it is about the straight up top speed per HP battle as I described above. It's like comparing NASCAR to drag racing or better yet an event at Bonneville. :) All these criteria cannot be compared to the nth degree in any one venue.

See, advertising works.

This is about how fast the hull can run and remain stable. Apples to Apples is not part of the game.

Rippem 01-15-2004 09:41 PM

EXACTLY... and when that instability is found at those speeds, it's anybody's guess how ugly it's going to be! I was just saying that it could be made much more than just a "terminal speed of whoever's hull" battle and made something more meaningful to me as a perf boat buyer, that's all. :)

Wasabe 01-15-2004 11:46 PM

My money is on Outerlimits.

Being the fastest is an inevitable scenario, and as long as there is individuality there will always be some one faster. whether its OL or Fountain or skater or the next generation of V's yet too be designed.

good luck to them all ( especially Fountain ) :) :)

I think it is just a matter of time before the Fiore's branch out into the cat market.

Ron P 01-16-2004 08:51 AM

Fiore said that as long as he has v bottoms running at these speeds, he sees no reason to start building cats.

animalhouse 01-16-2004 10:28 AM

This debate will be settled soon. I hear there is another Kilo run scheduled for this coming week in North Carolina. We'll see who is the fastest......?

My $ is on OL.

Thats for sure! I bet they could build a faaast cat though. With all the R&D they do, I bet they could get it right.

Any idea about prices for these incredible motors?

Can #6's handle 2,000 HP?

Katapult 01-16-2004 01:03 PM

;) :D

It would suck to find out at 160 that they can't!:(

Got to give cedit to both Reggie and Mike for going for this record. I would have to agree with someone that posted a couple of posts back. If Peter from Skater wanted to join in the contest for V Bottom King, I am guessing he could easily do it with probably less power. Who knows maybe someone will get the urge to approach him about it. Best of Luck to both Outerlimits & Fountain in there quests.
