Pain!

It's amazing how much pain a dislocated shoulder causes. Although I'm not trying to discount the pain of childbirth. Just thought I'd nip that in the bud before someone else made that comparison,,,,,

MrCIG 01-15-2004 07:17 PM

Don't know about child berth either. But a shoulder does hurt.
What's up Dave?

Mark

That's the truth- I dislocated mine skiing at A-Basin 28 years ago- it has never been the same, in fact still pops out from time to time. :(

Been through all kinds and Ill chime in with my worst experience. After 3 different back surgeries I experienced back spasms post surgery. I did not know this kind of pain existed. No amount of medication including intravenous drugs that had me hallucinating would help. So bad that I would hyperventilate. I think I woke the whole hospital and kept them awake for 3 days. Ive broken many bones, cut the end of my finger off, was nearly beat to death in a fight in college and had to have my face reconstructed. Those spasms make all the rest combined a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.

J-BOAT 01-15-2004 08:31 PM

I have had a dislocated shoulder, BIG PAIN
broken rib's BIGGER PAIN.
But my dad had back surgeries, and I've seen the agony from the spasms he went through. I would'nt wish that on anyone. PERIOD
Get well soon crazyhorse

MitchStellin 01-15-2004 09:16 PM

Did the dislocation, three fingers and a shoulder, did the back surgery, broke both arms, one twice, fractured my back, fractured my scapula, broke my collar bone, fractured my scull, non of this at once, jammed every finger, bit thru my tongue, tour my Achilles tendon, broke my nose twice, had an ocular blow out (hit in the eye with a squash ball, blows all your muscles out and they sag but it is fixable and I did have eye guards on, thats where I got the broken nose, teaching tennis players to use their wrist, not a roundhouse swing, into my face) I still lift 3 times a week, snowmobile 1000s of miles a year, and boat. I rank up there with evil conivel, and most of this happened on a dirt bike or skateboard.

Mr. Demeanor 01-15-2004 09:25 PM

PS. The worst pain is pain that you happen to be in. Its funny that way. Hope your feeling beter soon.

Crazyhorse 01-16-2004 06:36 AM

Mr Cig, I took a spill monday night and dislocated my left shoulder. Actually. I'm lucky that I didn't fall on the right arm as it would have shattered the wrist that I just had fused in November. They're taking the steel pins out of that one this coming thursday. Mark, What's the latest on the Cigarette engines?

PatriYacht 01-16-2004 08:00 AM

Crazy Horse, quit hurting yourself. Gotta be ready for boating in 3 1/2 months:cool: :D

fred 01-16-2004 08:31 AM

Crazy your scaring me.....I think it's time for all of us to move a warmer climate!.....took a spill on the ice taking the trash out myself a week ago, landed on my hip....hit and rolled like a marine and actually didn't hurt the next day!.....get healed up and I'll talk to you soon, Fred

ChrisK 01-16-2004 08:37 AM

Mitch.. dude... you are a walking cast man.. sheeesh :D

I thought my pain was bad.. but sounds like nothing now.. the worst I have gone through is a compound fracture of my arm, and my knee went out and tore the ACL ..

MrCIG 01-16-2004 12:29 PM

Dave,
The parts are on order. THe botom end was perfect. But since it's apart we will be putting in new bearings, and rings. The valves are questionalble so new valves and rockers (the rockers were starting to bind and a c-clip fell off one). And new fuel pumps for both.

Hope you get beeter soon. How are your motors coming?

Mark

Crazyhorse 01-16-2004 12:45 PM

They just need to be bolted together. I sent one blower out for a rebuild yesterday. There's a guy about 15 minutes from you that will sell you bearings and gaskets pretty reasonable.

MitchStellin 01-16-2004 01:09 PM

Yeh Chris, I have had my share of casts, and pins, and plates (still have a plate and 6 screws in my forearm but I can still bench 280 and it doesnt blow out!!!) If it were not for weight lifting I would be in a wheelchair. Muscle is all that is holding me together, that and fat.:D The best thing about pain is that you never remember it. Think about that for a while.

ClassCig38 01-16-2004 01:16 PM

Dave, o u c h y ! :sorry: Hope you're a fast healer..... We were just wondering. (he hee)....why we haven't seeny you post and then Mark tells me your shoulder was pulled. Hope Barb is "nursing" you back to health and spoiling you. Coming down for the boat show? Patti

fred 01-16-2004 01:17 PM

Crazy, my "twin cousin" Tom's boat is a Fountain so do we really count it as being a "40 footer" he he.....Fred

Crazyhorse 01-16-2004 05:54 PM

Patti, Barb has had the flu all this week so we're both moving kind of slow,,, I'm getting the pins removed from my right wrist this Thursday so I really doubt that we'll be making the drive to the boat show on Saturday. Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.
Fred, Tom is under the grand illusion that a Fountain 40 is really forty feet long, so we'll let him enjoy the dream for a while yet. You gotta admit, he got a lot of boat for the money.

MrCIG 01-16-2004 07:06 PM

Hey Fred I didn't know Tom was your twin cousin. You don't even look alike.
Put a beak and a platform on that boat of yours and you'll have a 47 Apache:D

Mark

fred 01-17-2004 06:27 AM

Crazy, your right Tom did get alot of boat for the $ and he is putting more into it getting it up to snuff...He is enjoying the crap out of it!!!...Mark, great idea.....I am going to the auto parts store today and picking up 25 gallons of bondo and 500 feet of fiberglass cloth and starting in the molding!!!!....also with the weight that will be added I am also upgrading to a pair of blown 540's......now to go buy that Lotto ticket.......Fred

mama tryed 01-17-2004 06:48 AM

Crazyhorse ,, are you trying to be the Poster Child for the RED CROSS :D :D I hope it Heals Fast for ya!!!!!!! Hopefully it was a Clean Seperation without tearing any of the Lineing of the Socket!!!! That could Plauge you for years!!

Mitch,,, ain't Dirt Bikes FUN????:D

CAP071 01-17-2004 08:43 AM

Pain it's your friend :D NOT! try a Percocet:crazy:

Crazyhorse 01-17-2004 09:01 AM

Actually, I'm on Darvocet for the shoulder because i just spent a bit of time on Percocet following my wrist fusion. I'd really be ticked off if the boat was in heated storage, waiting for me to get some of the planned work completed,,,,

MitchStellin 01-17-2004 09:07 AM

Darvacet is less than asprin after Percs. I had 325/10s for a long time and man, they are wicked. I didn't take them when I was in pain, I saved them for when I could enjoy them. I can take 4 Vics or Darvs and not even buzz.:D I always heal so I keep taking chances, someday I wil have to slow down....maybe 80 or so.:D

jafo 01-17-2004 09:07 AM

You sure do fall down a lot............ :p :D

jafo 01-17-2004 09:31 AM

All kiddin aside, Dave- if you need any help, let me know. I'm seeing the jet and its owners off to San Juan tomorrow for the rest of the month, so my work is done until February. I might go over to BTL to see a jet at the service center for a client- I'll let you know if that goes down.....:) Hope you heal quickly!
Jim

Crazyhorse 01-17-2004 11:28 AM

Give me a call if you're going to be in the neighborhood.

Waterfoul 01-17-2004 07:13 PM

Tricky919 01-17-2004 07:31 PM

Crazy are you throwing yourself down stairs to get more pain pills?

DJD 01-19-2004 09:54 AM

Damn! What a basket case! What's wrong with you Dave? Mabe you should start drinking.
Sorry to hear about your pain. I haven't been on the board in a while so hopefully, you feeling better by now.

When can I have my boat back?

dyno 01-19-2004 10:17 AM

WAAAAAAAA,WAAAAAAAA go back to work!! Cry Baby!!

Crazyhorse 01-19-2004 10:23 AM

Sorry Mike. I was napping Sunday afternoon.
Heck, I don't even have to use stairs. The pavement has been working just fine.
DJD, I'll have engines back together, dyno'd, and back in by spring. You can hop a cheap flight here for a sea-trial.

bajabob38 01-19-2004 11:00 AM

Pain is weakness leaving the body

LutzParty 01-19-2004 11:18 AM

Crazy, speaking as one who deals with pain each and every day. My reccomendation is Ice Ice baby, keep those perc's handy for when it is REALLY needed.

A steady diet of those will definitely slow down the healing process and its easy to become dependent on them.

Good Luck with the recovery and do what your Physical Therapist tells you.
