Thumbs up

A BIG thanks to everyone for their input!! I'm going to go with the Garmin 182C and mount it in-dash (in place of the compass) The best price that I have gotten is $864.50 (total inc. tax & shipping) from gpsdiscount.com. Bobbyb works @WestMarine and is going to see if his boss will match it! (thanks) I will get it from him if that's the case!

One other thing:This COLD weather SUCKS!!!!!

Try Mountain Laurel Products ([email protected]) and save $25 compared to GPSDiscount. They've got the 182C on eBay for $845, but you can "negotiate."

Check Boatfix.com they usually have good prices on Garmin. I have dealt with GPSdiscount.com and they have great service, same day shipping.

Well i dont know how involved you want to get in making a braket for things but.....

Heres my buddy Karls 380 PQ Avenger. We custom made a swing away braket for his Raytheon Radar/GPS system. He can swing it out of the way to get in and out of the drivers seat and it can swing out and lock in 3 different positions. One being so the pass can see and navigate if need be.

Ooopppps, sorry about that! Like I told you on the phone, I'm not in a big hurry . As cold as it is, I'm not going to be installing it anytime soon. The boat is indoors, but no heat!!!

Craig - Not to torpedo BobbyB, but if you call the West Marine/BoatUS order and refer the operator to the appropriate web page on GPSDiscount, they will match any price. I got almost $500 off on my Garmin 2010C package that way....

Here is a picture of my 182c internal antenna. I've only had it for a short time but I love it. You can't beat the blue chart chip for accuracy. I know the picture shows that we are right in the middle of land, but that was before we got the blue chart chips.
