been there my friend. last girl friend of 4 years was a smoker. at the time i was dating her i lost someone very very close to me. my unkle was diagnosed with lung cancer around thaksgiving of 2000 he died about 4 months later. held his hand after he was taken off life support and watched the heart rate go down to zero, now i knew my girlfriend was a smoker when we started dating but things changed for me that day. ultimatly it became a big problem. i wanted to spend the rest of my life with her but i wasnt going to take a chance on going through what i went through with my unkle. at first i tried to encourage her to quit (impossible to do without being the "bad guy") but it eventually became a losing battle and her last words to me on the subject were " honestly its none of your buisness . . you knew i smoked when we started dating" well that pretty much did it for me and we split up. shes right . . its none of my buisness now. i still see her once in a while and she still smokes, its a shame because shes a wonderful girl. please dont get me wrong, i have nothing against people who smoke. if you wanna . . thats fine, have a ball. i just cant have it in my life. not now.

mnfast, you dont have to feel bad about telling her its somthing you really dont want to be around. maybe it will be a small bit of reality that will help her quit someday. maybe . . maybe not. at any rate i"m with you. . . just rather not be around it if i can help it.

You're bad Bajabob... I don't think anyone else caught the drift of your post.... I'm not a smoker.. never have been one. My father was a smoker... started smoking when He was 13.. never without his smokes.... smoked for thirty years..... then suddenly quit... yeah.... he quit when he dropped over dead at the age of 43 from heart disease... I can still see him lying dead on the kitchen floor from his heart attack. I just buried one of my closest friends last November. He was a smoker too.... died at the age of 49... heart attack. Lost another friend a few years back from heart disease... died at 46 ... he too was a smoker. It seems the earlier you start smoking in your life.... the worse it is for you... I don't blame people from excluding others from being around their children when they smoke. Personally... I'm not bothered by the smell of cig smoke.... as long as I'm not in a closed room and have to breath their second hand smoke.

Is that why smokers have black between their teeth?2112? Yeah Sutphen 30... in my youth we used to say " If they smoke... they poke!"... Kind of goes with the territory! :D It's amazing how addictive smoking is. I had an aunt that was another life long smoker... got cancer of the larynx.... had to have it removed... she couldn't talk any more... had a hole in her neck to breathe.... but would still light up a cigarette and put it in her tracheotomy hole so that she could smoke...it was not a pretty sight.

Cigarettes are as addicting as heroin! I never did heroin, but have been a long time smoker and it has you by the balls!!! I think about quiting every day. I have tried many times and failed. Dirty, smelly, and deadly, and yet people still do it, because it is an addicition. Should be illegal!!!
